On the 1st October 2019 a new law was initiated by the Russian government.

It says that citizens of 53 nationalities can easily apply and get an electornic VISA allowing them to visit certain parts of Russia:

Starting from October 1, 2019, citizens of 53 countries will be able to visit St. Petersburg and it's suburbs just using e-visa: no visit to Consulate, no fees, no piles of papers!))) You can easily apply for your St Petersburg visa online and your visa will cover the period of 7 days.
