Meet Ihuriro Zean, a participant in our IGNITE Food Systems Challenge first edition. They are an innovative agro-processing company specializing in banana chips production. They reduce post-harvest losses, bridge farmers to markets, and elevate banana farming with micro-propagation and agronomic expertise.🌾

Established in 2018, ZEAN Ltd initially focused on banana grocery services, only to uncover the pressing challenge of the high quantity of bananas going to waste. Currently, they combat this by producing nutritious banana chips with longer shelf life, fostering sustainable agriculture, and uplifting farmers' livelihoods. They aim to amplify their impact by expanding their market reach, innovative product lines, and obtaining international certifications for export.

🎉 Day 1 of the Bootcamp for the second edition was very productive filled with learning and growth.

🌱 Ventures delved deep into understanding and the associated global challenges in a session delivered by Daniel Kibsgaard, Programme Policy Officer at World Food Programme. They embraced systems thinking and mapped their innovative solutions across the conceptual framework of Food Systems for Diets & Nutrition.

💼 Ventures gained clarity on reviewing and fine-tuning their business models, aligning with their unique value propositions and respective stages of development, from the Business Model Refinement session delivered by Gichobi Stanley from Founder Square Ventures

💡Alumni from the first edition also shared their invaluable experiences with the shortlisted ventures, providing guidance and inspiration on their entrepreneurial journey from the first edition of the program.
