this is a public service announcement! The best roof in Solomon Islands to mount your solar panels is any roof with a gentle tilt (10-20 degrees, so that rain water can flow off and help clean the panels) and that does not experience shade. We are hearing many people choosing to avoid using the south facing roof because the northside is shaded. In Solomon Islands, the penalty for putting panels on the south side is just a 3% loss of power output over the course of a year. At Superfly, we design so that you have 30% more power from the panels than what you actually need, to cover for unknown factors (like orientation loss, overuse, minor shading). Basically, we've covered you for a south facing roof. So go ahead and put the panels on any roof-direction, so long as it is out of the shade and has a gentle tilt! In Australia, and Fiji, the north roof is more important because they are further from the equator, and the sun stays oriented to north for the whole year. But actually, right now, the sun is more oriented to the south side, as it will be until about Feb-March, when it starts swinging back to the north in readiness for the "winter" months

Thanks to the generosity and support from the Australian High Commission, Solomon Islands DAP program, over 1500 residents of Fenualoa and Polynesian Outer Islands, in Reef Islands, Temotu Pele Constituency, Temotu Province will benefit from 2 solar systems for the local clinic and staff house. These 2 solar power systems will provide and deliver improved health services. In addition to standard lighting, there is enough power from both systems to support fans to improve patient comfort, and refrigeration to bolster the quality of health services in this rural community. We are so grateful to be chosen by the local community and to be entrusted by the Australian Government to deliver these important works. Superfly ltd is a partner in implementation of Cheara clinic new staff house project which was funded by SI-Australia Community Partnership. The progress of the building construction is nearing our part. In a week time our electrician will travel down to project site to begin first stage (concrete stage) of the installation of electrical wiring. Second stage will be done when timber structure reaches the wiring part. We attached a video of some of the community members milling timber for this clinic's staff house.
