Happy Second Appointed Day to the Provincial Government and the people of Temotu Province.
Adorned by natural pristine environment and with rich cultural values, history and home to a beautiful, very friendly people, Temotu Province is the easternmost province of the Solomon Islands. The province consists of Santa Cruz Islands, Vanikoro, Utupua, Duff, Tikopia, Anuta, Reef Islands, and atoll islands of Pileni, Matema, Nukapu and Nupani.
The province is also known as the home of the most active volcano in the country, Tinakula which lies to the north of Santa Cruz Island.
The people of Temotu are of Melanesian and Polynesian heritage, the Melanesians occupying the bigger islands while the Polynesians took to the smaller atolls and islands where their descendants live today.
Adventures abound in Temotu Province with a seemingly endless list of things on offer – from fishing and climbing on Tinakula Island to experiencing the daily living of the Temotu people and participating in the authentic cultural practices within in the different parts of the Temotu Province.
There are a range of accommodation options to choose from both on Santa Cruz and on the Reef Islands ranging from resort style to eco-family friendly accommodations. Lata offers standard motel and rest houses. Irrespective of budget travelers are also well-catered to.
Solomon Airlines operates flights from Honiara to Lata (Santa Cruz) twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and once a week, on Thursdays to Lomlom Airport in the Reef Islands.
While still a challenge with shipping services connecting to the province, inter-Island hopping is mostly done via motorized canoes with 40 HP and 60 HP engines.
Taxis, Hilux and pickup trucks provide land transport in and around Lata station and on Santa Cruz Island.
Come and experience far eastern Solomons. A truly off the grid experience. Immerse yourself in true living cultures, friendly people, beautiful scenery and delicious, healthy local cuisine.
Solomon Is. Isabel Province
From the Board, Management and Staff of Tourism Solomons,
we would like to wish the Provincial Government and the people of Isabel Province a Happy Second Appointed Day.
With a population of just 34,548 people, Santa Isabel is one of the Solomon Islands’ nine provinces and located on the south-western edge of this amazing 992-island archipelago.
Consisting of the main island of Santa Isabel, which is the longest island in the Solomon Islands chain, and several smaller islands, the province stretches like a string of emerald green pearls from the Arnavon Islands bordering Choiseul Province on the western flank to Onogou Island bordering with Malaita Province to the east.
There are currently two active airstrips on Isabel Province, at the provincial capital, Buala and also Suavanao. Passenger Boats also service the province.
Alike many of its sister provinces in the Solomon Islands, this relatively undiscovered part of the archipelago is rich in culture and history and the people who live here are as warm and generous as their counterparts in the far-flung reaches of this unspoiled region and like nothing better to show off their beautiful home whenever they have the opportunity.
Visit the Isabel Province for a true unique experience.
Solomon Is. Western Province.
The possibilities are endless and awaits your adventure in this beautiful part of the Solomon Islands.
Today we send our many Congratulations to the Government and People of Western Province on the occasion of their Second Appointed Day.
May God Bless Western Province. May God Bless Solomon Islands.
Solomon Is. Chaha Falls
Grafted on the inland mountainous region stretching from Central to North West Guadalcanal, Chaha Falls might just be your next off the beaten track adventure.
Tourism Solomons is excited to share with you one of the highlights experienced by the international visitors, some of the very first to visit our islands after we reopened our border, who travelled to the Solomon Islands to participate in the events surrounding the 80th Anniversary of the Guadalcanal Campaign in WWII.
The video highlights the visit by the visitors to Tulagi in Central Province, the former Capital of the British Protectorate of the Solomons Islands until 1952.
Highlights of their program included many key points and significant historical locations where much of the fighting took place. These include Blue Beach where the US Marines made landfall, the former British Resident Commissioner’s House, the Japanese ‘U’ Caves , the US Cemetery, the Cut, Hill 281, the US cemetery, and the Cricket Ground.
And beyond Tulagi, Purvis Bay, Gavutu, Tanambongo and Tokyo Bay.
The video also highlights a stopover at Double Island where our guests enjoyed an Island lunch and sight-seeing around the beautiful Island.
We are delighted to showcase this visual memory of the dignitaries, some of our first international visitors and those Solomon Islanders who joined in this special journey, many of whom are proud of their family members who also played such an important role in a pivotal moment in world history.
Here's a recap to 1st July 2022 when we welcome our first international flight after the announcement of the re-opening of our international borders.
It was an emotional and exciting welcome back 'meet & greet' moment at the Honiara International Airport.
From the Board, Management and Staff of Tourism Solomons to the Government and the people of Solomon Islands 🇸🇧
Happy 44th Independence Day.
