Hello everyone, we are posting the following as a warning to ALL, local and tourist.
One of our staff has been charged by the police and taken to court, for driving a RENTAL CAR without an insurance disc posted on the windscreen. I repeat, “A RENTAL CAR THAT DID NOT HAVE AN INSURANCE DISC”.
In court, the judge made it very clear, “that the driver” was responsible for ensuring that the car had an insurance disc and any other disc that were required eg: licence disc. He said, it is the driver that must ensure the brakes and handbrake works, the indicators work, the tires are good.
Holy s**t, has anyone ever had to check all this when renting a car, why am I paying for a rental car if I am responsible for the upkeep of said RENTAL CAR.
What happens, if this was a tourist, are you telling me that the tourist driving a rental car needs to ensure that the car is insured and licenced?? Or to check that all parts are working properly??? If a tourist is stopped by the police and there is no disc on the car or the disc is expired, does this mean the tourist will be charged by the police and taken to court?? What happens to the car rental company??
JUST ANOTHER THING THAT TOURIST MAY BE LIABLE TO PAY FOR, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.
