AIR SEYCHELLES RECOGNIZES LONG-SERVICE STAFF

Air Seychelles proudly recognized the dedication and commitment of its long-serving staff during a special ceremony held during the airline’s annual staff party on Saturday 07 December 2024 at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel. This joyous occasion celebrated 31 employees who have reached significant milestones in their careers, with 21 of them present to receive accolades for their unwavering service.

The event honoured staff who have dedicated between 10 to 35 years to the airline, showcasing their loyalty and contributions that have significantly shaped Air Seychelles’ journey.

Notably, employee retention at Air Seychelles has remained strong since its creation in 1977. Last year, the airline recognized 62 long-serving staff members and is looking forward to celebrate over 70 more in 2025. These figures reflect the positive work environment and commitment to employee satisfaction.

“I am filled with pride to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our long-serving employees, year after year, and in large numbers too. Their commitment over the years has been instrumental to the growth and success of the national airline, and I am grateful for their invaluable contributions” expressed Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer. “I was also proud to have stood among them as a recipient myself this year and to celebrate two decades with our beloved national airline.”

Air Seychelles remains committed to recognizing and appreciating the talents and efforts of its employees, reinforcing its belief that its workforce is its greatest asset.

To note, 2024’s longest-serving staff are Marguerite Esparon, from the procurement department, and Spencer Panagary, an aircraft engineer who both joined the airline in 1989 and celebrate 35 years this year.

A separate ceremony was held on Friday 13th December 2024 at the Head Office in Pointe Larue for those who could not attend the party, ensuring that all honorees received the recognition they deserve. The CEO will personally meet with those currently on overseas duty upon their return for their gifts.

In a touching display of appreciation and support, Air Seychelles CEO Sandy Benoiton presented festive hampers to two staff members with disabilities during an intimate gathering this morning.

This followed the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 03 December. CEO Benoiton reaffirmed his dedication to fostering inclusivity within the airline, stressing the invaluable contributions of every employee, regardless of their abilities.

Walter, an amputee, and Thelma, who has a hearing impairment, are cherished and respected members of the Cargo Department and Aircraft Grooming teams, respectively.

AIR SEYCHELLES TO LAUNCH NEW SERVICE TO ABU DHABI

Air Seychelles is excited to announce the launch of its new, direct service from Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), commencing on 24 May 2025.

The flagship carrier of the Seychelles will operate six weekly flights, with daily services except on Thursdays out of Seychelles and Fridays out of Abu Dhabi, catering to the increasing demand from both leisure and business travelers.

“The capital city of Abu Dhabi has experienced tremendous population growth over the past decade, making it a vibrant year-round destination favoured by Seychellois families for its countless entertainment options. We are excited for the launch and are looking forward to offer our esteemed guests yet another destination to explore. The UAE also remains a crucial inbound tourist market for the destination, and we believe that the conditions are now optimal for the national airline to re-enter and establish a strong presence” shares Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Seychelles.

Flight Schedule for Abu Dhabi:

Flight No: HM0018 from Seychelles departing at 2045 hrs to arrive into Abu Dhabi at 0120 hrs. Operating daily except Thursdays.

Flight No: HM0019 from Abu Dhabi departing at 0800 hrs to arrive into Seychelles at 1235 hrs. Operating daily except Fridays.

In addition to the direct flights, the Abu Dhabi route will be code-shared with Etihad Airways. This partnership will provide passengers traveling from Seychelles with convenient nighttime departures, allowing seamless connections onto the Etihad Airways network for flights to Europe, the USA, and Asia.

Flying the Creole spirit

The rain did very little to dampen our spirits this morning as we joined Special Olympics Seychelles on a solidarity walk in Victoria commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which is celebrated today.

To wrap up the day, we joined our little friends at the School for The Exceptional Child Seychelles for cake and music, and even got a visit from Santa bearing gifts!

AIR SEYCHELLES BECOMES OFFICIAL AIRLINE PARTNER FOR FESTIVAL KREOL 2025

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Seychelles, is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts to facilitate travel arrangements for participants and attendees of the 40th anniversary of the renowned Festival Kreol, taking place in October 2025.

The agreement underscores Air Seychelles’ commitment to promoting local culture and heritage, aligning with the festival’s mission to celebrate the unique Creole identity of the Seychelles through music, dance, arts, and cuisine.

Under the terms of the MoU, Air Seychelles will provide discounted airfares to delegates around the region traveling for the festival as well as additional marketing support to ensure that locals and international visitors can participate in this landmark event, which celebrates the rich tapestry of Creole culture.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Institute for this prestigious event.” says Mr Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer. “The Festival Kreol is not just a celebration of our heritage; it’s an opportunity for cultural exchange and tourism, boosting our economy while showcasing the beauty of our islands to the world.”

The Festival Kreol is celebrated annually, highlighting the diversity and cultural richness of the Seychelles. The upcoming 2025 celebrations promise to be an extraordinary occasion.

Flight HM3201, operating from Praslin to Mahé today Friday 08 November 2024, landed safely after a technical issue during final approach. The crew followed standard procedures and declared an emergency to ensure everyone’s safety.

The runway was briefly closed for safety checks after the landing. It has now reopened, and normal operations have resumed.

Air Seychelles Announces Additional Flights for the Upcoming Festive Season

Air Seychelles is pleased to announce the addition of several new flights as part of its service expansion for the busy upcoming festive season. These enhancements provide passengers with even more options when choosing their holiday destinations.

New Wednesday flight to Mauritius – Starting in December and continuing into early January, the national airline will add a new Wednesday flight to the popular shopping hotspot, Mauritius, resulting in an average of four flights per week.

Increased Service to Johannesburg – To meet the high demand during peak travel times, a fourth weekly flight will be introduced to the capital city of Johannesburg in South Africa, including a new Saturday evening departure with a return journey available early Sunday morning.

Expanded Schedule for Mumbai – From 18 December 2024 to 01 January 2025, three additional flights on Wednesdays will be added, facilitating a twice-weekly service to Mumbai.

Optimized Colombo Connections – The Saturday flight to Colombo will now depart Seychelles at 1730 hrs, providing a significantly faster connection to multiple destinations offered by our codeshare partner, Sri Lankan Airlines. This is particularly beneficial for fans of the exciting city of Bangkok in Thailand as it allows for a quick one hour connection without the need for a visa.

Seasonal Service to Reunion Island – Announced earlier during the year, Air Seychelles will be launching a seasonal service to the island of La Reunion on 30 December 2024 to 18 January 2025.

Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Seychelles, stated, “We’re excited to announce additional flights for the upcoming festive season, allowing passengers even more options for their favorite destination. Additionally, our new nonstop flights to La Reunion provide significant time savings over previous indirect flight options. As this will be a very busy holiday period, we recommend everyone to book their flights as soon as possible.”
