✨ Youth activities at Sergels torg

The public square with its sunken pedestrian plaza will be home to this years UNG Culture Festival. Here teens can explore sports, create art and music.

Explore Friedrichshain: Berlin’s p***y alternative district 😎

What was once a working-class neighbourhood has become one of Berlin’s most trendy areas both to live in and to visit.

Friedrichshain forms one borough together with Kreuzberg on the other side of the river but it has its own identity.

Having been part of East Berlin and the DDR, Friedrichshain changed a lot after the fall of the Berlin Wall. At first, it was the students, artists, punks and alternatives who took over the neighbourhood. Now Friedrichshain is an epicentre of Berlin techno and nightlife and home to many young families.

✨ What to do in Friedrichshain?

With its rich history, it is no surprise that Friedrichshain offers plenty of things to see and do. Here are some of our recommendations for things to do in Friedrichshain:

1. Visit East Side Gallery in Friedrichshain, one of the most famous sights in the area.
2. Wander through the park that gave the neighbourhood its name: Volkspark Friedrichshain. It is the oldest public park in Berlin.
3. Swim in and cross the Spree River. In summer, you can swim in the Badeschiff, a floating pool in the river Spree.
4. Walk along Karl-Marx-Allee, where the district's East Berlin history remains.
5. Explore the Lighthouse of Digital Art, a famous digital art gallery.
6. Try to get into Berlin’s most famous nightclub, Berghain. The techno club is known for its strict door policy.

Celebrate Copenhagen Pride 🌈

Copenhagen Pride is Denmark’s largest annual Human Rights festival, held every year in August. Copenhagen Pride 2024 will last nine days, and has the theme With Pride.

✨Pride events in Copenhagen in 2024
This year, from 10 to 18 August, Copenhagen will again celebrate Pride throughout the city. City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) will be transformed into Pride Square, an inclusive and welcoming area with food stalls, bars, performances and, the square will host Drag Night on the 16th and the big Pride show concert on the 17th.

Copenhagen Pride consists of various interconnected programmes with a focus on human rights, culture and art, and of course the Parade. Not to miss venues, along with Pride Square include the Human Rights Tent on Regnbuepladsen, a place to go for debates, conversations and quizzes, and Rådhushaven, where many of the Children's Pride events will take place. But there are many other events throughout the city, including special exhibitions at museums, Q***r Copenhagen walking tours en much more.

✨Pride Parade
On Saturday 17 August, the Pride Parade takes over the streets of Copenhagen. The Parade will start at Frederiksberg City Hall, from where thousands of people, who take part in the parade will make their way via Allegade, Frederiksberg Allé and Vesterbrogade to City Hall Square. Last year, Copenhagen Pride was the first Pride in the world use only 100% electric vehicles during the Parade, this year they will continue to commit to a greener parade.

🌈 Celebrate Stockholm Pride 🎉

From 29 July to 3 August, the city will take a stand, dare to be uncomfortable, spread love and joy, get back up and stand proud together. All over the city, there will be music, parties and workshops as Stockholm museums, restaurants and clubs join in the celebrations.

Here are some of the best Stockholm Pride events:

🌈 Pride Park

The main festival area is Pride Park, which is set up in Östermalms IP. Between Wednesday 31 July and Saturday 3 August, every night will feature fantastic artists, stands, restaurants and bars for music and parties.

🌈 Pride House

Pride House is the home of democratic discourse and important meetings during Stockholm Pride. In 2024, the House again takes up residence at the Clarion Hotel. Here organisations, associations, companies, political parties and individuals can meet and exchange experiences and discuss issues and challenges for the LGBTQ+ community.

🌈 Pride City

You’ll find events in churches, tattoo shops, pastry shops, cinemas and museums. For example, during Pride Week, the Royal Armoury offers a two-for-one on tickets if you have a ticket or wristband to Stockholm Pride. From Tuesday to Friday, the Hallwyl Museum offers special tours around the city (in Swedish).

🌈 Pride Parade

Finally, there is the big Pride Parade on 3 August, which will wind its way through the city centre from City Hall to Pride Park, along a 4.5 km long route. The parade starts at 1 in the afternoon at Stockholm City Hall. It will take around 2 hours for the Parade to move to Östermalms IP.

The best thing to do in Berlin this summer ☀️

As the summer sun warms the city, Berlin offers up some great outdoor entertainment. From the early morning sun on the river to the last light at sunset, Berlin in summer offers something for everyone. Here are some of our favourite things to do in summer in Berlin.

🕶️Have a drink at a Biergarten

Germany is known for its beer and Berlin is known for its beer gardens, which are popular for a very good reason. They are a great place to enjoy the warm weather with a cold beer. The best-known beer garden to those visiting from outside the city is Cafe am Neuen See in Tiergarten.

🕶️Cruise on the river

Why not start your hot summer’s day with a relaxing cruise on the river Spree? It’s one of the perfect ways to combine sightseeing with relaxing in the sun, just like with the RED Sightseeing bus. On the water, you can see Berlin from a different perspective.

🕶️Go swimming

Did you know you can go swimming in the river Spree? Well, sort of, the Badeschiff in Kreuzberg is a shipping container that has been placed inside the river and it is one of the most unique swimming pools in all of Germany.

🕶️Catch the sunset on a rooftop terrace

The TV Tower at Alexanderplatz is a great place to watch the sun go down. Other options for spectacular sunsets are the city’s rooftop terraces and there are plenty to choose from, such as the Grace Rooftop bar at Hotel Zoo on Kurfürstendamm (Kudamm), the Monkey Bar right by Berlin Zoo, or the Klunkerkranich on top of the Neukölln Arcaden shopping centre.

Stockholm or Copenhagen? ✨

Where should you go for your next city trip, or which Scandinavian capital should you include in your European tour?
Of course, this depends on what you want to see and do. Here we’ve compared Copenhagen and Stockholm, to give you an idea of which city might suite you better.

❣️The similarities
Both municipalities have a population of under 1 million people and both cities are often considered expensive, though both Stockholm and Copenhagen can be visited on a budget as well. Both cities have royal families living in them and palaces for you to visit.

Copenhagen and Stockholm have a high focus on sustainability. With bike-friendly infrastructure and good public transport systems. The focus on sustainability goes hand in hand with both cities strong sense of design, innovation and liveable urban environments. Both cities have lots of great ways to make your way through the city.

❣️The differences
While both cities have a strong connection to the water, they feel completely different. Copenhagen has canals that separate different parts of the city, while Stockholm has an archipelago of islands that make up the city.

Stockholm has more nature within easy reach of the city centre, including the entire island of Djurgården. Copenhagen’s old city centre is larger than Stockholm’s Gamla Stan. Indry By, as the area is known, stretches from Tivoli to the Little Mermaid statue, and from the Copenhagen Lakes to Freetown Christiania.

We love both city’s equally. But depending on what you are looking for we can recommend one city over another.

For history buffs and nature lovers, we would choose Stockholm over Copenhagen. But for design enthusiasts, foodies, beer lovers and nightlife partiers, we recommend Copenhagen over Stockholm. ❣️

26/06/2024

🌈 Berlin Pride lasts for a full month, which is filled with events such as workshops, panels, sports activities, shows, bar nights, parties and, of course, the big Pride Parade Demonstration. 2024 is the third year where Berlin celebrates a full “Pride Month”.

✨The motto of this year’s Christopher Street Day Berlin Pride is “Together we take a stand - Democracy needs diversity!”. Pride events will start on Stonewall Day, 28 June, and culminate in the Pride Demonstration and rally on 27 July. The organisation expended the celebrations in 2022 to give Berliners and Berlin visitors more room to discus LGBTQIA issues and more opportunities for encounters with Berlin’s q***r communities.

✨The list of events during this year’s Berlin Pride is extensive, with something for everyone. There are three demonstration marches during Pride Month, the East Pride Berlin on 29 June, the D**e March Berlin on 26 July, and the big Pride Demonstration on 27 July. During Pride Month, Berlin will host readings, workshops, movie nights, panels and a multitude of parties.

Copenhagen on a budget 💸🤍

Copenhagen is a beautiful destination to visit all year round. However, the city with the colourful houses, its many palaces and fairy tales is not necessarily known to be very budget-friendly.

Is Copenhagen expensive? It can be, but it doesn’t have to!
Here's some tips:

✨Save money on public transport: Hop-on Hop-off buses can be a great help! The buses from RED Sightseeing take you to all the must-see attractions in the city, including Amalienborg Palace and the Tivoli Gardens.

✨Free walking tours: If you prefer to explore the city alone and at your own pace, free, self-guided walking tours are a great alternative. Many are app-based, for instance, the free RED Sightseeing app or the StoryHunt app.

✨Free museums: one of the museums that is always free to visit is the David Collection. Then every Wednesday, you can visit the Thorvaldsens Museum and after 5 pm, you can also see the Kunsthal Charlottenborg, both for free until closing time. And on the last Wednesday of every month, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek opens its doors.

✨Other activities you can do for free: check out the Little Mermaid statue, take a stroll on Nyhavn, explore the district of Christiana and witness the change of the guard at Amalienborg Palace.

Great attractions in Berlin you don't want to miss 😍

For young and old, high above the ground and deep underground, Berlin has something for everyone.

✨ Incredible views of the city
Berlin has several great viewpoints which give you amazing panoramic views across the city. The TV Tower is perhaps the most famous of these points. The 368-meter tall tower on Alexanderplatz not only offers amazing views across the city, but you can also choose to include a meal in your ticket to the top of the city.

✨A different look at history
Berlin is a city filled with history, throughout the city, you’ll find plenty of landmarks and sights to remember the past, such as Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall and memorials. At the foot of the TV Tower, you can journey through nine centuries of history with the help of virtual reality. Berlin’s Odyssey is an innovative 15-minute-long long, VR-experience which features amazing historical reconstructions and hyper-realistic animation.

✨Unexpected pictures in unlikely places
When you visit Madame Tussauds in Berlin, you’ll meet people you never thought to come close to. Get ready for the catwalk with Heide Klum, check your make-up while sitting right next to Kendall Jenner and Walk through a football stadium tunnel next to Lionel Messi.

✨Berlin on a smaller scale
Sometimes a city as large as Berlin can be too much to take in all at once. A great place to get a better overview of Berlin is at Little BIG City, where you can explore a miniature model of Berlin at 1:24 scale. The model has interactive activities so that visitors can join in action, as well as special effects and great projections.

✨Above and below the water
Unlike in many other countries, children in Germany can enter bars and pubs (if they are accompanied by an adult). The Berlin Icebar is one bar that is fun for the whole family as you are taken on an adventure to the Arctic. Step out onto the ice, surrounded by ice sculptures and a bar with drinks!

What to do in Stockholm this spring 💐

In Sweden, spring officially starts in April with Walpurgis Night. From this point forward the season really comes into its own with warmer weather, flowers in bloom and every tree growing green leaves. It is the perfect time to visit Stockholm if you want to avoid the crowds that arrive in the city in summer.

🌱Celebrate Walpurgis Night
Walpurgis Night is a traditional night of bonfires in Sweden and one of the country's biggest holidays. To join in the local celebrations in Stockholm, a visit to Skansen should be part of your itinerary if you are in the city on 30 April. Here you can attend the biggest Walpurgis celebration in all of Sweden!

🌱Watch the cherry blossoms in Kungsträdgården
The best place to see cherry blossom trees in Stockholm is Kungsträdgården, which is situated across the bridge from the Royal Palace and is the most central park in Stockholm. The park hosts over 200 events every year, from festivals to an ice skating rink, and is open to the public all year round.

🌱Explore Stockholm from the water
Since Stockholm is made up of numerous islands, it is the ideal destination to explore with a boat tour. For instance, the RED Sightseeing Royal Bridges & Canal Tour, which will take you from Gamla Stan, under the Skeppsholmsbron bridge, with its gilded crown, and around Djurgården.
🌱Visit Sweden’s oldest amusement park
Gröna Lund, the country’s oldest amusement park, is beautifully located on the southwest corner of Djurgården and opens in late spring every year. With 30 different rides and countless snack and food stalls, including six restaurants.

🌱Discover sculpture park Millesgården
An attraction off the beaten path is the Millesgården sculpture park on the Herserud Cliff on the island of Lidingö. You can find sculptures in an Italian-style garden with terraces and stairways, fountains and columns.

🌱Step back in time at Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde

What to do in Copenhagen this spring 💐

While early spring temperatures in Denmark might be chilly, they'll rise steadily throughout the season. Visiting Copenhagen in spring means you can witness nature bloom in the city's many parks.

🌱 Discover the city from the water
Exploring Copenhagen from the water is a great way to see the city from a different perspective. If you prefer to discover the city on your own, renting a kayak is a great option. A one-hour-long boat tour, on the other hand, is the perfect way to see more from Copenhagen while you sit back and relax.

🌱 Welcome the sun at Tivoli
The summer season at the Tivoli Gardens actually kicked off in spring on March 22nd. It is the perfect time to enjoy the many rides and restaurants at the amusement park but also catch the first rays of sun on the deck chairs.

🌱Take a bike tour
Another great way to explore Copenhagen in spring is by bike. The Danish capital is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world and it is even more fun when the sun is finally coming out. There are many different Copenhagen bike tours to choose from.

🌱Visit the King’s Garden
King’s Garden is beautifully located in the heart of the city centre behind Rosenborg Castle. This garden is a true oasis right in the heart of Copenhagen and also the oldest royal garden in the country. It was first established in the early 1600s by King Christian IV as a Renaissance garden. However, it has been remodelled multiple times over the years.

🌱Flowers in bloom
The Bispebjerg Cemetery is actually the biggest cemetery in the country and one of the city’s most photographed sites in spring due to its alluring cherry blossom trees. The avenues of the cemetery are lined with cherry blossoms or Sakura trees that dip the area in dreamy shades of pink.

🌱Hunt down the best beer bars
Copenhagen is a haven for beer lovers. The city is home to some world-famous beer manufacturers, such as Carlsberg and Mikkeller. But really it is the microbreweries and craft beers that make Copenhagen a favourite destination of beer fans from all over the world.

What to do in Berlin this spring 💐

As spring arrives it is time to look at the all the amazing outdoor activities Berlin has to offer. The warmer weather transforms the city’s parks and streets, the beer gardens open their doors and there are plenty of festivals to enjoy.

🌱 Walking Tours
Spring is the perfect time to discover the German capital on foot as the summer heat hasn’t arrived yet. Berlin is a sprawling city so you won’t find one walking tour for the entire city. Instead you can take your pic between walking tours dedicated to different parts of the city or different themes.

🌱 River Cruise
With the sun coming out, there is nothing quite like enjoying the feeling of the warm rays of the sun on your face while you cruise along the water. If you want to relax while you enjoy the view, you can go on an 1-hour cruise with Stern & Kreisschiffahrt. They'll take you past Museum Island, the Reichstag, the House of World Cultures and many more sights.

🌱 Festivals
The festival season starts going strong in spring with different festivals popping up around the city throughout the season. There are music festivals such as Desertfest and Fête de la Musique, the first is an annual festival that takes places across Europe and is set at the former Tempelhof airport. The second is a free festival taking place all over the city with all styles of music at the very end of the spring season.

🌱 City Parks
Berlin is home to more than 2,500 parks and gardens and they are the perfect place to observe the changes in nature in spring time. Of course there is Tiergarten, the biggest and best known park in the city with its landscaped gardens, large open spaces, boating lake, cafés and beer gardens.

🌱 Bars in Kreutzberg
Kreuzberg is the cultural heart of Berlin, with bars, restaurants, thrift stores, cafés, street art, food stalls and parks. It’s easy to spend a spring day here. You can find lists of the top bars in Kreuzberg all over the internet, but here there are new bars opening all the time with something for everyone.

Stockholm’s old town is a must-visit part of the city. Officially Gamla Stan consists of the islands of Stadsholmen, Riddarholmen, Helgeandsholmen and Strömsborg but often only Stadsholmen is considered when the district is mentioned.

Gamla Stan has been the heart of Stockholm for centuries, in fact, the town dates back to the 13th century. The historic district is filled with top tourist attractions as well as hidden gems, like the Royal Palace, Skeppsbron, the Riddarholmen Church, Stortorget and so much more.

🔗 If you prefer to explore the district at your own pace, the RED Sightseeing app has a free walking tour you can take at any time. And of course, the RED Sightseeing bus can take you to Gamla Stan from many different spots in the city. Check the link in our bio for more info and tickets ❤️

Some cities have a reputation for romance, but Berlin is not one of them. But Berlin is filled with culture, and history, and has plenty of places and activities for a romantic date. Here are some of my favourite things to do in Berlin on Valentine’s Day or another romantic date 💌💕

💖 Breakfast or Brunch: There are several great places to enjoy your first meal of the day in Berlin, but one place that pop-ups on all the best brunch spots in Berlin lists is Silo Coffee. Silo was one of the first to offer brunch in Berlin and continues to be one of the best spots in town.

💖 Take a Second Glance: The All Forms of Love exhibition is the first instalment in the series and offers a fresh look at the Bode Museum’s collection through the lens of LGBTQ+ identities. The exhibit highlights 33 objects across five themes, prompting visitors to reconsider how artists have depicted and explored diverse sexualities throughout history.

💖 Run for Love: The sporty lovers who want to run off all the chocolate they ate on Valentine’s Day can head to the Gardens of the World on the Sunday after Valentine’s Day. Here the Valentine’s Run offers 3 different circuits through the gardens. You can choose between a first love 3km run, a little love 5 km run and a big love 10km run.

💖 Stargazing for Cosmic Kisses: After dinner you can call it a night or you can make your way to the Zeiss-Groβplanetarium. Every year, the planetarium has a Valentine’s Day special to give you and your loved one the chance to look at the starry sky together. During the Cosmic Kisses event, you can watch the stars while listening to the most beautiful love songs from the last decades.

💖 Top Dining Experience: A special occasion asks for a special location dining experience. Berlin has several restaurants which are unlike others. For instance, the Sphere Restaurant at the top of the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz. A 3-course dinner at this rotating restaurant is guaranteed to give you an amazing view over the city on this special night.

19/01/2024

4 dishes you really need to try while visiting Stockholm:

✨ Kanelbullar: Swedes love their traditional coffee break called fika, hence it is no surprise you will find a vast variety of pastries in the country. The Kanelbullar, sweet rolls filled with cinnamon, are undoubtedly one of the most popular sweet Swedish treats out there.

✨ Lingonberries: Foraging berries is extremely popular in Sweden, so it is no surprise that they are often incorporated into dishes and desserts. The unique Lingonberries almost look like blueberries but in red. Due to their high acidity, they are ideal for using them in jam, cordial and other preserves. The brightly coloured berries go especially well with meat, from meatballs, game and liver to blood pudding, or they shine on their own in zesty desserts such as ice cream, mousse or cheesecakes.

✨Semla: A cardamom-flavoured wheat bun filled with almond paste and a generous dollop of whipped-cream and vanilla and topped off with a layer of powdered sugar. Sometimes it is eaten soaked in a plate of warm milk, commonly known as hetvägg. The sweet bun was traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday as it is called here, one day before Lent as an indulgence.

✨Toast Skagen: A piece of crunchy bred topped with a mixture of prawn, mayonnaise, lemon and dill as well as a dome of fish roe. This little delicacy is served as a starter and its invention through the Swedish cook Tore Wretman, who learned his skills in Paris. The Toast Skagen’s is rather unique: its name is derived from Skagen, the northernmost tip of Denmark.
