A Lynx came by, was sitting in the ,backyard‘ and enjoying the view.
There are around 1450 lynxes in whole Sweden and they Lynx are perhaps the most difficult mammal to spot in Sweden.
One of them decided to visit Valstabacken today… what an honour!

Let‘s go hiking 🥾
At the lake ,Järndammen‘ close to Sala, you find several hiking tours through beautiful nature. Here you find some impressions from the 4km round tour of the lake. There are a few picnic spots and shelters along the way, so you can spend a nice time in nature, only half an hour away from your guesthouse.
What to do?
A journey back in time!
Visiting ,Vallby Friluftsmuseum’ in Västerås you get an impression of a typical swedish village in the past. Beside several shops, the old school, a manor house you meet also some animals like goats, chickens, sheeps and horses.
A very nice place to visit, with free entrance and dogs are allowed too.
Do you like ,Knäckebröd‘ and swedish souvenirs? Then we recommend a trip to Leksand, a nice little town at the Siljan Lake in Dalarna with its well-known crispbread factory and shop. Here you find a lot of different crispbreads (sizes and tastes) and many swedish souvenirs (to eat, drink, use, enjoy…)
If all this makes you hungry, you can enjoy a typical ,Knäckepizza‘ or a local ice cream.
Halleskogsbrannans Naturreservat - on the 31th July 2014 the biggest wildfire in swedish history started here on an area of around 30x30m. When the nightmare was over in mid August the fire destroyed 14.000 hectares (25.000 football fields) on a surface of 20x50km. Shortly after, the whole area was declared as a ,Naturreservat‘ so nature has all possibilities to renew itself and we can be witness the power of nature 🌲

Swedish forest full of tasty food - now it’s the season for juicy wild blueberries, strawberries and cranberries and thanks to the rain, soon surely also for a lot of mushrooms.
Just grab a basket and discover the beautiful forests round your guesthouse!
A nice Summer day at the Östa Naturreservat ☀️
Here you find several beaches where you can swim, paddle, have a picnic or just relax and enjoy the beautiful swedish nature. For our fourlegged friends you even have a very nice dogbeach.

This marvelous manor house and its open air museum, garden and much more is located close to the lake Öljaren in Södermanland. There is a lot to discover in a beautiful environment and can even play in Pettsons little Farmhouse and maybe meet his friend Findus.
