Kandy to Trincomalee 3 Days Trip | Public Transport

We had planned a trip to from for three days. We would like to share our experience during the whole trip when planning and ending. In this article I will share experience of accommodation, transportation, food and travel locations.

Travel from Kandy to Trincomalee

There are a couple of ways to reach the destination. We decided to use public bus service for our journey. Because it is cheaper than other services when compared with private vehicles, tuk or renting a car. The ticket price is RS.710 per head and the journey took 5 hours. The bus starts the journey at 7.00 A.M.

Accommodation

Before we start the trip we manage to find accommodation near Trinco town that easily reaches our travel locations. The location is “ ”. It is really worth the budget, service and also had good reviews on property listing websites. It's just 500M far away from the center of the town. We stayed there 2 nights and the price was calculated 24h basics.

Tuk and public transport within city

The tuk/three wheel prices are a bit lower when compared with other cities.

Foods and snacks

It's a challenge to find food but snacks are available. There are fewer restaurants in the city and mostly closed in the afternoon and after 9.00 P.M there seems to be no night time food courts. We are able to find good restaurants by searching google.

Visited Locations

We reached at 12.00 noon on the first day and had a rest. After refreshing, we took our lunch and started our journey. “Sri Thirukoneswaram Kovil” is the first place that we visited. After that, We manage to visit “Gokanna Temple”. The view is amazing with blue sky and ocean. Finally We decide to walk through the “ ” in the evening. The location is nice and secure with lifeguards. People bath there in the evening.

Second day we manage to reach “ Beach”. We use public transport to go there. The is near there and you need to get tickets for a visit. The crowd is massive on the beach but does not taste like “Dutch Bay”.

It's the final day and we visited the “Maritime And Naval History Museum” at 9.00A.M. We had good knowledge from there because of ancient equipment and explanation videos.

Back to Kandy

We took the bus at 12.00 noon from the Central bus stand. As usual it took about a 5 hours journey back to Kandy.

weather

climate in the morning and evening had massive rain all the 3 days. Normally the weather is sunny all day. Better to use sun cream when outing.

Summery

Trincomalee is one of the best city to travel north in Sri Lanka. We can easily reach , , , , , , and many more. People are different nationalities including sinhalese, muslims and tamils. The weather is normally sunny all day. Best hotels, restaurants and budget food courts are also available. Sunset and sunrise can be clearly captured.
