These two are amazingly happy and playful. They really like to run around in the freerun and play with each other and they are growing so fast 😊 två glada hundar 🐶🐶

We're trying to support the dogs as much as possible, with changing fur aswell.

We brush out the winter wool so that the dogs can better handle the heat of summer with some nice and airy fur. Most of them really enjoy their beauty program, but some dont like the brush so we pick it out by hand or let them do it by themself.

Two best buddies! Since Felix and Chicco met some years ago they have been together, sharing dog house and box in the trailer. Cleaning each other, barking at random noises and eating everything as if there is no tomorrow!

Summer fun!
Lappland is mostly thought of as a cold place, but, we live a life of extremes! When we have cold we have cold and when it’s warm it’s really warm!
Last week we had +35 degrees Celsius and 6 months ago we had -35 degrees Celsius! A difference of 70 degrees 😉 and we love it!
Nobel he made the best of it and took a nice dip in the lake!

Soon the ice on the lake will break up from land and slowly dissolve to little crumbles!

Storavan, the lake, is one of our main sources of food, summer and winter. Here we can fish and catch not only food for us but also snacks for the dogs, they love frozen fish pieces all year round!

Sunny days!

This time of year means warm sun, long days and sometimes hard winds! On the picture we are out on Sjulholmen, a little island 5 km out on the lake Storavan. A perfect place for lunch in the fire and some ice fishing ☀️ #2022

Alma!

Alma is what we call a “deco-dog”, a sleddog that is just with for decoration since she is very seldom actually pulling! She is there to make the team symmetric and look nice 😉 Soon she turns 11 years old but is still coming with on tours 💪 she can any day decide not to come with but she still jumps and barks to get her harness on, sometimes she just come with running free but with her harness on 😉

Motivation and team work!

Run with and help the dogs all the time= kick or even run when it’s an uphill and keep down the speed the rest of the time!

Speed is always the big question, how fast or how slow should we let the dogs run?!

We want to go longer than a few kilometers between the stops, so therefore we ALWAYS have to break the dogs down to what we learned is a good speed for our dogs. That is 12-15 km/h, that is good for young and old dogs (and guests 😉).

This means that the musher breaks the team down to this speed, it’s important for other reasons as well:
- When the dog pull with pressure on the line he/she doesn’t need to balance because the harness is shaped to do this
- It shows the dogs that you will not run them over if theyfall through the trail or have to make an urgent stop
- You can better steer/control your sled and maybe you don’t fall off as easily!
- Save energy for the dogs

The speed you choose should be a speed they can go up and downhill for the distance you want to go 👍

Lizzie the snowmobile!

Our snowmobile is well used and have several important jobs, we open new trails, prepare trails, drive gears, transport people and dogs, and many other things!

It’s very important for us that the snowmobile always starts and can do the work we need to manage, so we got a Lynx Commander. It’s a wide track but light and easy to drive and for the last 5000km we didn’t get stuck so it’s kind of impossible we believe!

And the name Lizzie she got because you can go like a lizard with her 😉🦎

Snow and wind! The last couple of days have given us loads of new snow, the best way to find the exact trail again is to open with dogs. Nobel, named after Alfred Nobel! One of our youngest pups that we decided to keep together with his sister Selma. The other puppies are at @northernstar_sleddogs and @wildlapland ☀️ Here we put a lot of time to train the pups, they run free every day, play inside just as well as outside, play with the easy going older dogs to learn dog language, train on their name and not to bite and the older they get the more advanced training they get.
