Today is the Sami National Day!
The Sami are one of the world's indigenous peoples and one of Sweden's official national minorities. The ca 20,000 Samí in Sweden today maintain their rich culture and traditions while being a part of modern Swedish society.

This important day started with a flag ceremony, speeches, traditional joik etc. with Sameföreningen i Stockholm at Stockholms stadshus / Stockholm City Hall.

There are many places in Stockholm to celebrate and learn more! For example: ⬇️

▫️ At Skansen open-air museum there will be special events during the week, such as storytelling and talks about Sami culture at the Saemien Sïjte, traditional food, drinks and crafts, Gáhkko-baking, kids' theater and much more! February 6–9

▫️ Enjoy a Sami get-together and a concert with Hanna Nutti at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern this evening

▫️ The grand exhibition 'Nordic Life' at Nordiska museet allows you to explore life and people in the Nordic region over 500 years – naturally, including the Sami.
