2022 has been a special year in which we have been very happy to be able to actively witness a lot of interesting developments in the airships industry.

A great applaud to our friends in the industry for their many achievements: LTA, Flying Whales, Zeppelin, Atlas, Hybrid Air Vehicles, Lockheed Martin.

Special thanks to our dear Pioneers, Adventurers, partners, collaborators and friends and to the whole community of passionate people behind this important process of changing the way we travel in the future.

Thanks to Forbes and Rachel Ingram for a new article about OceanSky Cruises and our North Pole Expedition.

In 1926, Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen flew over the North Pole in an airship named Norge. Almost one century later, budding explorers will soon be able to re-enact this incredible feat with an airship adventure of their own. Find out how.

The airship may be the only means of transport that can mitigate the negative consequences of climate change on northern transportation. Cargo airships have the potential to be a cheaper and more sustainable alternative.

They could deliver large loads frequently throughout the entire year, as well as provide less expensive passenger transportation for community residents.

A new generation of cargo airships would have a revolutionary impact on northern transportation and logistics costs.

A few weeks ago, our CEO Carl-Oscar Lawaczeck and Head of Marketing Gonzalo Gimeno attended the annual African Revival – Investing in Education fundraising ball in London.

OceanSky Cruises has previously donated an Airship Experience to the charity, which raised 40.000 GBP at auction, to improve the quality of education for children in Uganda, Zambia & South Sudan.

Congratulations to the charity’s Founder and Chairman, Tony Allen, and the African Revival team for their amazing and truly generous work.

The demand for our first North Pole Expedition season has exceeded our best estimations. Given the low Adventurer cabin inventory for the departure months of May through October, we are expecting to enter into a waiting list mode at the beginning of next year.
The current Adventurer cabin price of SEK 2,000,000 for 2 persons is valid until the 31st of December 2022.

We are thrilled to share that Danish chef, Jesper Vollmer, will be our North Pole expedition head chef. As one the most renowned Scandinavian chefs, Jesper will design the culinary experience onboard our airship to the North Pole.

He is the former chef to the Danish Royal Family where he managed the Royal Kitchen serving the Queen and the Prince and their guests for 10 years.

He now inspires people to eat just a little better every week, through Denmark’s largest online food club and school, where he teaches people to become better at cooking and making everyday dishes.

Our company OceanSky Cruises is focused mainly in one thing: generating demand for airships services. We want to contribute in building an airship industry, not just one airship, nor ten airships but hundreds of airships or maybe even, if we can dream, thousands of large scale airships. We believe in this technology but, in order to build an industry, there has to be a a few things in place.

- There must be a reason…Why should we build an industry of airships?
- There must be a strategy, a roadmap, a plan to reach that goal.
- There must be a successful launch. We can’t afford to fail.

Discover the story behind Titina, Umberto Nobile's dog. Titina was a tiny, ordinary, intelligent little fox terrier that was featured in the first pages of all newspapers as the first dog to fly over the North Pole in 1926, in the cramped cabin of the N1 "Norge," in the Amundsen-Ellsworth-Nobile Transpolar Flight.

Norwegian director Kajsa Næss and his team have made an animated film, "Titina," presented in Cannes and that is going to be released in October 2022.

96 years ago there was still a white spot on the map: the North Pole. The first official overflight of the North Pole was made by the airship Norge on May 12th 1926. The Transpolar Flight Expedition made this venture possible.

Inspired by this epic feat of Amundsen and Nobile aboard the Norge almost a century ago, Ocean Sky Cruises vision and mission is to land the first airship at the North Pole.

Airships are commonly compared to airplanes, probably because both are aerial vehicles. However, that’s where the similarities end.

Airships are better compared to trains from a passenger’s perspective. We can, in a future of sustainable travel, consider airships as a travel option similar to the way we use trains.

Airships can basically be used to transport both goods and passengers from A to B without the need for fossil fuels. In addition, an airship is independent of large and complex infrastructure and does not need a large terminal such as an airport for take-off and landing. "All you need is a little space and a relatively flat surface such as a meadow, field, ice, or water. That is also why destinations in northern Canada or parts of Africa can be reached".

There is no other area of automotive or aerospace equipment that "can provide a quiet, comfortable space with large windows and the ability to fly low for a very long distance." Including a restaurant and a private suite with your own bed.

OceanSky Cruises is talking to different airship manufacturers and is currently following the industry closely: "We'll take the first airship that's finished and meets the needs of our passengers."
