Ursjön is a probably the water on the globe that has produced most big crucians. A challenging water for those who have the ability to focus and concentrate.

Hello! The crucian fishing has been very tough in Ursjön so far this year. But thanks to Forest Lake, crucians has been landed reguarly. David Gillman and John Bent landed several nice crucians up to just over 4lb during the past week.

It often takes a day or so to get into the fishing and after a blank first day they had two crucians each the second fishing day. Great angling!

For almost 250 days per year it is to cold or to difficult to fish for crucian in Ursjön and Forest Lake. But once again, a new season starts ❤️.

How long is the crucian season?
The season for crucian fishing in our latitudes is mainly from mid-May to mid-September. I usually say it is about 110-120 days per season.

The ice usually settles in the beginning of December. Then they are there for an average of five months a year.

It is almost time again!

Hello! We have now opened the sale of annual fishing licenses for Ursjön and Forest Lake. As we have postponed bookings for Lake Ursjön, due to Covid-19, we can't offer the annual license for Ursjön this year. The the tickets are valid for 2023.

But anglers who pay for their tickets this spring will have the 2022 season in Forest Lake included in the price. So we will start the group this year already.

***All three over 4lb***
Very, very hard conditions with a lot of rain, cold weather, wind and so on last weekend. But the keen anglers who fished the lake managed to catch three crucians. All over 4lb. All respect to them! Well done!

***SWIM NO 3 at Ursjön: Södra (The south swim)***
This swim is one of the oldest and is dated back to the early 1990s when the lake was discovered as a water with big crucians. It is located in the southeast part of the lake (see map) and it is the first swim (or peg) that you will se when you walk the pathway from the car park.

This former popular swim has produced many, many big crucians over these 30 years. And it is still a very good fishing spot!

Here, like many other swims (areas in the water), the crucians soon started to change their behaviour, due to the "fishing pressure". As a response to that, the angler had to change his way of fishing to have a reasonable chance to catch fish. But most angler just left the swim, to try their luck on other places.

Yes, popular swims tends to be "good" just for a few years, and then become significant harder. Then, people start to avoid them with the effect that it became a bit easier again. And then, yes, it gets more popular again. For a while.

Is it easy or hard now? Well, I think you have to try to see.

Some ten, fifteen meters to the right of this platform, you will find Swim No 4, thus Blå Pallen (The blue pallet). The reason it is there, is that one of lads after sitting on the platfrom for hours without a fish, took a blue coloured platform to stand at (very soft and wet area) and caught a crucian within minutes.

***SWIM NO 1 at Ursjön: Träsket (The Swamp)***
This swim was built back in 2016 and is located in the southwest part of the lake. It is actually the only swim on the west bank.

This is by far the most expensive swim we have built with more than 100 meters wooden pathway thru the wet and swampy area and even over the little waterway that drains the lake. In total, it took more then 25 hours to built this and we hoped it would last for a few years at least. And yes, it is still functional and yesterday, they were crucians feeding there.

It is also one of the least used platforms at the lake. Abandoned by people for most days of the year.

The south part is pretty shallow and if you sit on the swims on the other side, thus in the south east area, it is not uncommon to see fish in the area where we have a built this swim.

If you are here for two days or more, it can be a good idea to walk over and bait a couple of times. The crucians are not so spooked here, as they are on the most popular swims. In other words, it might be "easier" to catch the golden ones here. But again, a good tip is to bait it before you start fishing.

After all, so far it is "the abandoned swim".

Next year we will open up and offer limited fishing at Forest Lake. The smaller, but incredibly inviting lake is suitable for 2-4 people and it will be the same concept as with Ursjön: You rent the whole lake to yourself and your company.

This is a heaven if you like crucian fishing. The fish often reveal their presence by making bubbles and appearing at the surface. Most of the fish are over 3lb but they are all beautiful and fantastic. Every catch is really something special!

The price will be a bit lower than Ursjön and again - it will be limited!

After our last post a couple of hours ago, we recieved a question about the crucians in Forest Lake and how big they are. Well, most of them are over ~1300gr/3lb and we are still waiting for the first one over ~1800 gram/4 lb. This one, caught just a couple of hours ago, weighed 1640 gram which must be around 3lb 10oz or something like that. It is a amazing water with such a beautiful fish!

Efter att ha ägnat åtskillliga timmar att bygga platser, spång och förmedla möjligheter till andra att fånga en rejäl drömfisk gled jag in en stund på eftermiddagen igår för att spana in läget, mingla och fiska en stund. Lite "som en chef", för att citera David Edling. Högst troligen var det något speciellt med hur planeterna stod i förhållande till varandra, för efter en timme eller så klev denna bjässe på. Skönt att be David Edling fick agera assistent igen för några minuter ;-)

Swedens biggest crucian carp.

How do you prepare for the season for crucian carp? Perhaps can this short video of the largest known crucian carp in Sweden increase your lust? (speaking in swedish). This fish was caught in 2016 and then weighed 3030 grams.
