Uppsala International Summer Session Swedish language and courses related to Swedish culture, history and society located in a charming university town. Students come from all over the world.

The UISS is Sweden's oldest and largest summer language program. Backed by 50 years of experience, we offer a well-developed curriculum. Nowhere in Sweden will you find such an intensive summer program with such a rich choice of courses. The UISS organizes excursions that allow our students to visit sites around Sweden and to experience Swedish culture, history, and society first hand. People come

to Uppsala from all over the world and though the majority are students, we also have quite a number of adult students, such as teachers, interpreters, translators and business people.

You get on the wagon, drawn by a historic tractor straight out into a dense, Swedish forest and meet the moose in their natural surroundings. The guide, Leif (”Leffe”) Lindh, has a close relationship with all of the animals in the park. He is the first and only person in the world who has swum with these stately animals in their natural environment.

2025 classes are scheduled 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday, with a minimum of 5 lesson hours a day in Swedish. 👩‍🏫

The morning classes are language studies, with a basic orientation into cultural and social patterns and characteristics, traditions and customs, integrated into the teaching material.

"UISS was a journey of discovery of others and of yourself. The morning and afternoon classes dive into the Swedish language and culture with the support of truly amazing teachers.

We went from interactional morning language lessons to “meeting” firsthand culturally significant figures while walking around Uppsala with our teacher Lennart as a guide during the “Svensk Kultur och Samhällsliv” class.

The drama class especially has been life-changing for me. It was just what I needed. I became more daring and more open to trying new things, and I even ended up positively surprising myself, learning about a part of me I did not know was there. And in the process, I created meaningful bonds with friends from all over the world."
