Born in 2006 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Kai Hasegawa has been passionate about drawing since childhood and continues to dedicate himself to his artistic practice. Located in Iwate prefecture, just a short walk from the Geibikei Station, Geibikei Gorge offers spectacular views and boat rides ☀️

🚣🏻 The boatmen and women use a pole to push the boat along, and it is the only place in Japan where boat rides go both up and down the river without using a motor.

You can visit this gorge all year round, and experience the different seasons on a beautiful river 🌈

① We typically categorise sakes under 4 main distinct flavour profiles ー Clean & Dry, Clean & Sweet, Rich & Dry, Rich & Sweet. Each taste pairing produces a different overall taste, aroma, and mouthfeel!
② The more polished the rice is in sake production, the more richer and complex the flavours will become! ☺️

🍶 Dedicated to providing a full experience for sake tasting, we also recommend various small bites to compliment with the sakes presented! They add an additional dimension to just having sake on its own, and you'll be able to savour the richness of the sake elevated by the food pairing.

🍶 Here at Access Tohoku, we house a wide range of sakes procured from all across the 6 Prefectures of Tohoku. So there is no doubt that you'll find a sake fitting to your liking!

⭐️ The Sendai Tanabata Festival (仙台七夕祭り) 🎋

📍 Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture

Tanabata festival also known as the Star festival is held nationwide on July 7th but in Sendai, it is held on August 6-8th in order to keep to the seasonality of the old festival.

The festival in Sendai is unique compared to others, due to the 3-5m streamers displayed in the city’s shopping arcade. Many are created by local schools, shops, and communities. 🏫

🪐 Tanabata celebrates the romantic meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair).
