Our first day of hiking started with a leisure nature exploration from Kagami Pond to Togakushi Forest.

An easy walk on an almost flat path along the YuLong River and an exciting bamboo raft cruise wrap up our actively-packed* trip in Guilin!

*actively-packed = full of hikes and walks + loads of authentic local cuisine daily. 😅

The rain came just as our highlight walk started along the Li River to view the 9-Horses Painting Mountain 九马画山 and the RMB 20-Dollar note view 二十元人民币背景图.

The views of the karst were all veiled under a shade of fog.

A walk through quiet villages and farms. The ginko trees have not turned fully yellow but we managed to see some.

A number of trees are as old as 150 to 250 years old.

Our highlight of the day? The lunch at a villager's home!

We went off-the-beaten track traversing across the rice terraces, crops and villages to reach PingAn Village. The remaining 2 views checked: Nine Dragons Five Tigers 九龙五虎 and Seven Stars with Moon 七星伴月.

The Golden Fields of Guilin hiking starts.

Besides visiting Reed Flute Cave, we asked for a climb up Elephant Trunk Hill instead of just viewing it. We are just getting warmed up for the rice terraces tomorrow!

Throwback to the wonderful time we had with our Wander Members during our hike & cruise retreat around Komodo Island.

We felt rejuvenated after spending a few days in the sun and sea. Plus the hikes we embarked on offered stunning views of the area!
