We tried Ryujin Onsen ( famed as one of the top three beautifying hot springs of Japan). Our skin really felt smooth and soft afterwards! We also tried out more as we move from Ryokan to Ryokan as we proceeded. For those who are shy, some places allow booking of private onsen at extra charges.

Travel back in time on a boat ride along Kumano River to Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine where you can pray for good health. Then set foot along a fairytale like stone path (Daimon-zaka) amongst centuries old cedar trees before a slow ascent up more than 400 steps to reach Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine. Finally take a five minutes' ride to view the Nachi-no-Otaki waterfall.

4 hour trek (7km) along the Nakahechi Pilgrimage Route, starting from Hosshinmon-oji, ending at Hongu Taisha. This is a scenic trail along Kumano where you are surrounded by Cypress and Cedar trees.There are even log beds along the trail for you to lie down, soak in the 'forest bath' & view the tree tops & sky.

Kaiseki served gradually so most of the dishes aren't captured in this pic. After that it was to try out the Ryujin Onsen, one of the three beauty-enhancing hot springs famous for making the skin beautiful. You could really feel the skin becoming smoother afterwards!
