To us, travel is not just about transporting the body, it’s about transforming the mind, little by little, one holiday at a time. Perhaps you can relax on the beaches of Sardinia, you can imagine that you are millionaire playkids. Or,as you climb the steps of the Mayan pyramids of Mexico, you can put yourself in the shoes of the conquistadors. Or, as you thunder down the A5 autobahn at 250km/h, yo

u can pretend you are a test driver for Porsche. Each time you travel, you lose old prejudices and gain new tastes. That is the defining quality of a global citizen. Customised trips are perfect for customers who know what they want. Our customers are diverse. Some can sail and ride horses, other require wheelchair assistance. Some are food adventurers, others have multiple allergies. Some like it hot, some like it cold. At WONDERGOLANDER, we take a great deal of care in planning the big and small details of your holiday so that your flights of fantasy need never touch the ground.

Can't believe it's been a month since the 2024 edition of the extraordinary Tomorrowland. This year is worth mentioning as we celebrate 10 years of hosting guests and trying to outdo the preceding year – from the size of the 'contingent', to the quality and fun factor of the mansions, to the scale of the Asian 'minimart', to the epic moments of edm goodness. Hands-down, it's our most successful one to date… with nearly 100 folks over two weekends, four staff present, a hot Asian supper awaiting guests at 1am, and record evictions of non-authorised party-goers at our exclusive VIP box

Many of you know that we have been a part of worldwide luxury travel network, Virtuoso Travel, for a number of years now and had the privilege to be one of just five founding members of Virtuoso Asia back in 2015. To add to the prestige of being among the specialists in the art of travel, we’ve been nominated for the 2023 Sustainability Ambassador Award 🎉

We really don't believe we've done anything special other than just play our part to ensure we and future generations can keep exploring the world. And we're also consciously aware that there are many other travel companies – big and small – who passionately contribute in their own special ways. We just happen to be in the right space at the right time.

If anything, this award nomination is a much-needed morale booster to continue pursuing what we believe in – to keep going on paths that may not be convenient or rewarding or matter at all. We'll continue to be curious about how to lessen the impact on the environment and wildlife; we'll continue to get excited over new technologies to minimise the carbon footprint of holiday makers; and we'll continue to nudge bespoke travellers to choose brands that truly embrace green, one holiday at a time.

Getting up close to wildlife such as this reed cormorant, is one of the perks of exploring the river in a canoe

TURN UP THE VOLUME - the distinct tune of the ring-necked dove is heard throughout our bush time in Southern Africa. Locals jest that they heed the call to either "work harder" or "drink lager".

Impalas here, there, everywhere - these flighty antelopes with a visible M arch on their bottoms, are also known as the McDonald's of the bush (aka fast food)

Nothing completes the Victoria Falls experience better than a sightseeing flight. Our microlight adventure gliding over the thundering falls and riverscape (even spotted a croc or two) was a real thrill!

(Wait for that mega yawn.) This expressive one huffed and took a couple of menacing steps towards our vehicle, then decided we were quite harmless and went about his business.

We nearly missed this one!

We weren't quite sure initially how it would turn out going down the rabbit hole of incorporating AI in our annual Lunar New Year red packet design, but we sure were pleased with the resulting cute Alice-in-Wonderland-like bunny! Here's to embracing fresh experiences and learning new skills, long after the festivities come to an end!

Hygge tip #2
Nature and gastronomy go hand in hand in southwest Denmark – delicacies in this region include oysters, prawns, prized Wadden lamb and cattle that graze on the salt marshes, honey, cheese and more. On your bespoke holiday to Denmark, forage as a family or discover delicious food on a gourmet-themed tour in the splendid outdoors. Ready to don fishing waders and harvest your own Pacific oysters on an oyster safari at the Wadden Sea Centre?

After three pandemic summers, a new chapter is dawning for travel in the Land of the Rising Sun! 🇯🇵 There's a slew of changes from 7th Sep for people travelling to Japan; call us or submit a travel request on our website to make sure you know exactly what holidays are permitted and the relevant entry paperwork to do (yes, there's still ERFS and visa to take care of).

For WONDERGOLANDER travellers, expect relief from the heavy-lifting – as usual! Your bespoke holiday itinerary will be chock full of experiences that are not only personalised but meaningful to you.

What will change moving forward? 👉 There won't be round-the-clock escorting, unless you choose to be accompanied by your private guide on a daily basis; you also won't need to do a pre-departure PCR test if you're triple-vaxxed with Japan-approved vaccines)

What won't change? 👉 Extraordinary, soul-stirring fun that will help you immerse in Japan at your own pace and on your terms

It's no secret that the Danish concept of hygge – the fuzzy warm contentment that comes from enjoying the good things in life with people who matter – is an important ingredient in your bespoke holiday to Denmark.

Hygge tip #1
If you have kids and/or the young-at-heart in tow, head to Billund to up the wonder. At the Capital of Children, besides enjoying big name attractions such as Legoland you can also unleash your energy at an outdoor adventure play and amusement park offering. Think suspension bridges, ziplines, giant swings and water slides, treehouses and tree-top nets, and underground caves – even a giant maze and a creative zone to build your own toy! Plenty of fun guaranteed for both children and adults 🥰

Fireworks are a bonus, really, but even without the fanfare it always feels good to be descending into our resplendent night scene, returning from a bespoke holiday and ready to tackle the comfort food cravings. This has perhaps never been more true in the last 11 months, as we ventured out again to explore new places, revisit familiar destinations and recharge our weary selves. Looking back now, it's crystal-clear that this country has done a heck of a border reopening job – balancing economy, freedom and safety with thoughtfulness and confidence. And for that, we as travellers are ever so grateful. Happy 57th birthday, Singapore – we may not always be here, but here will always be home!

Japan's matsuri are not only a high-spirited spectacle, but they also offer a glimpse into traditions and way of life. Some of our favourite – and incredibly local – festivals in August 👉 Aomori Nebuta Matsuri featuring impressive lantern floats that can take up to a year to create using washi paper; the Tokushima Awa Odori, an elaborate folk dance festival with over 400 years of history accompanied by lots of Japanese musical instruments like the shamisen; and the Omagari Fireworks Festival that also doubles up as Japan's National Firework Competition. Definitely worth braving the summer heat for! 🏮💃🎆
