There are two sides to a coin, similarly, the Singapore history as we know it, sometimes overlooks the pain suffered by a small community of woman, the "Comfort women". Who are they? What happened to them and how does this relate to Singapore? I invite you to walk with me next weekend while I share harrowing tales of these "Comfort women".

This is a “Dark Heritage” tour – meaning this tour carries a dark history that some of us may well want to forget. We shouldn’t.

The deadliest riot in Singapore's history was triggered by a man who felt shortchanged while buying rice. Join me as we re-trace history and attempt to understand how a little disagreement escalated into an all out fight with daggers drawn and blood spilled.

A simple desire to buy 5 catties of rice led to mayhem and chaos. Join Mr Thomas Dunman and me as we work to end the ruckus!

Everyday elderly me.

Upcoming this weekend we have:
Balestier & Whampoa Walking Tour

Meet me at Novena MRT at 9am on the 29th January 2022. This tour will end at Whampoa Hawker Centre.

30th January 2022. 9am to 11, maybe 11.30am (SUNDAY)

December road trips:

1) Dragon's Teeth Gate & O***m Hill Night Drive 2021
4th December 2021 (SATURDAY): 5pm to 10pm
Meet at 5th floor car park at Raffles Hospital, 5pm. Introduction to Arab Street & Tua Beh Lor (North Bridge Road). Dinner at own cost at Bussorah Mall (or Zam Zam or Victory).

2) Journey to The West Road Trip 2021
19th December 2021 (SUNDAY): 9am to 5pm
Meet at car park in front of Changi Chapel, 9am. We move on to Abingdon Road at rear of Changi Airport. Story of SIA and aviation appreciation – from Singapore’s first plane to current days.

December walking tours:

1) 4th December 2021 (SATURDAY)
Bukit Brown Cemetery Night Walk: 6.30pm to 1030pm
This is our first night walk at Bukit Brown Cemetery. No, this is not a creepy walk in the dark. You'll be surprise that there are many other people doing night walks here. It is also no secret some tomb sweepers sleep the night here. This is one of the safest place if you are hiding from your wife or the police.

2) Geylang Red Light District Walking Tour
9th December 2021 (THURSDAY): 7pm to 10pm
This is the only new itinerary we have for now. We have a good reason for doing this on a Thursday night (rather than on a weekend). And here is the truth. Geylang is fast losing its character as a naughty place. With the pandemic, things aren't any better. But, still, there is that occasional police raid that comes around checking on those "solicitors" who might be trying to make a desperate hit somewhere in the night. And this usually happens on the weekends... (6 more slots only!)

3) 11th December 2021 (SATURDAY)
Sembawang Black & White Walking Tour: 9am to 12pm
There have been some requests to do this tour in the night. Let me know if you want me to do it (in the night). But for now, this is the same old tour that we have done before - complete with stately mansions and underground bunkers and all. (1 more slot, open to taking up to 2)

4) 12th December 2021 (SUNDAY)
Bukit Brown Walking Tour: 8.30am to 12.30, maybe 1pm.
Most people coming to Bukit Brown barely scrap the surface of the tour. On our tour, we'll go behind the scene, and do the full story. We'll clear the air if the story is real or fiction. For example, there is that little nondescript tomb of Mdm Lu at the foothill of Hill Number 3. While many simply walk pass, the story (and history) behind this head stone holds an almost forgotten story of Asia's sugar king...

5) 18th December 2021 (SATURDAY)
Orchard Road Christmas Night Walk: 6.30pm to 8pm
This is our Christmas Night Walk. The light-up along Orchard Road will hopefully add more cheer. And hopefully, the dining regulations would have been relaxed. With Christmas only a week away, we hope things would have gotten better for all of us. This will be a happy, informative, and entertaining night. Bring the kids! This is a happy Family Night Walk.

6) Crime, Vice & Murder Walking Trail
26th December 2021 (SUNDAY)
I know this is Boxing Day. So, this is for those who have gone past this stage. Come join me for coffee - hopefully the sit-in dining regulations have improved. We'll go through the list of unsolved murders and how to escape the gallows (if at all possible). History has proven this may be possible, - due to lack of evidence... We'll see. You'll like this. Squeaky clean, safe and sound Singapore has her own "adventures and dramas". As the slogan goes - "Low Crime doesn't mean No Crime".

See you soon!

Road trips are back!

Upcoming we have:
Jurong to Changi Road Trip 2021
13th November 2021: 9am to 5pm (SATURDAY)
You will learn about Jurong Island, as we cruise through tuas and experience a scenic drive through at lim chu kang, neo tiew road and kranji. Explore some scenic look out points including a selfie spot at the ultra-popular Cyclists' Lamp Post Number 1, and photo spots at Lower Seletar Reservoir. Learn about the Changi Chapel and Johore Battery. Tour ends at Abingdon Road at rear end of Changi Airport. We would have driven from the western-most tip of Singapore all the way to the East! (Sign up closes on 08/11/21)

Sembawang Black & White Road Trip 2021
21st November 2021 (SUNDAY): 9am to 5pm
Bermuda Road (sight-seeing Black & White colonial mansions), narration on British forts, etc. This is one of the last bastions left by the British for us to relive the halcyon days of a long-gone era, complete with bunkers and all...

The Battle of Singapore Road Trip 2021
28th November 2021 (SUNDAY): 9am to 5pm
Narration on The Battle of Singapore (and why Japan wanted to take Singapore so bad). Find out how Japan sent 65 Mitsubishi bombers (to bomb Singapore), but only 17 arrived. Did the British engage them in a dogfight? Or was it something else?

Stay tune for December road trips!
