World Express recently attended the Seatrade Cruise Global Conference in Fort Lauderdale in late March 2023, connecting with cruise and industry partners.

An exciting announcement shared was news of Disney Cruise Line planning to base a new ship, and home port in Singapore from 2025 onwards. The yet to be named ship, is estimated to be able to carry 6,000 passengers and 2,300 crew members, and would be the largest cruise ship sailing here 🚢 🇸🇬

The Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2023 (also known as the Hari Raya Bazaar 2023) begins today, March 17 and will run for 6 weeks ‘till April 22 in its longest-running iteration yet!

The bazaar, which will include some 700 stalls, will coincide with the annual Hari Raya street light-up in Geylang Serai.

Come and visit to soak in the festive Hari Raya spirit these next few weeks!

You'll have a whopping 36 days to browse 700 F&B and retail stalls.

World Express at ITB Berlin 2023 last week - what a time!

Great to see the travel industry converge in real life for this event, especially after nearly 4 years of hiatus. Particularly enriching were the discussions on new innovations in technology and travel solutions in an increasingly hot market, while our world continues to deal with new challenges and shifts in society. We were glad to share more about our bespoke service offerings in Southeast Asia as well as be a part of the diverse travel businesses in representation at ITB’s Asia halls.

Q4 2022 marked the re-opening of the long haul international cruise market in Singapore and many ports in Asia.

World Express welcomed guests from Cunard, Oceania Cruises, and Viking amongst other cruise lines in the past month, providing shore excursion and turnaround services in Singapore. Capacity on board the ships were high, signaling a true recovery in the international cruise market.

One of the tours that we operated for our cruise guests was the Panoramic Singapore Tour. As part of our Panoramic Singapore Tour, guests got the chance to drive through iconic districts - zipping through spots such as Boat Quay, Little India, Chinatown and Orchard Road - for a panoramic view of Singapore before concluding the session at a local coffee shop and sampling kopi for a local experience.

We were delighted to attend the MICE Sustainability Summit, hosted by Singapore Tourism Board and Saceos Singapore last week. The opening address by Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Mr Alvin Tan 陈圣辉 along with the insightful panel talk involving key stakeholders in the industry shed valuable light on Singapore’s path to position itself as one of the most sustainable MICE destinations in the region.

A green event indeed - air-conditioning was crossed out, minimal plastic and paper products were in sight, our lunch course comprised of only sustainably and ethically sourced ingredients. Substance was not compromised.

The highlight of the Summit was the unveiling of the Singapore MICE Sustainability Roadmap, which demonstrated the crucial need for all parties in the MICE eco-system to come together and deepen our competencies as we work towards a more sustainable future for our industry. We are still learning but feel optimistic to have a community here invested in paving the way for more responsible business travel and events 🌱

Thank you to the Shangri-La Group for including us in your “Embracing Every Moment” Program. It was a meaningful and delightful session engaging with the MINDS - Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore community at Resorts World Sentosa - marvelling at lifeforms at the S.E.A. Aquarium together and capping off the session with a buffet spread at Silver Shell Cafe, Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Singapore. Was also great to connect with our fellow industry friends from Singapore and the region in the process 🙏 Thank you for your hospitality!

We recently got the chance to preview Avatar: The Experience at Gardens by the Bay, held inside the spectacular Cloud Forest. Conceived by Lighstorm Entertainment and Cityneon Holdings, Avatar: The Experience is an immersive walk-through event that transports guests into the extraterrestrial world of Pandora - the fictional setting of which James Cameron's groundbreaking movie takes place in.

With its iconic cascading waterfalls and lush vegetation, Cloud Forest proves to be the perfect backdrop to propel Pandora into our living reality.

Thank you to Gardens by the Bay for giving us an early look at this special experience. We can’t help but feel pride to see Singapore and our local talents play a part in this and collaborate with entertainment’s giants.

F1 weekend is back in Singapore!

The highly anticipated Singapore Grand Prix returns after a two year hiatus and will take place at our iconic Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Besides the major racing event, there’s a range of entertainment for people to enjoy from the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix Concert, rooftop parties at select hotels, to race-themed activities along Orchard Road, and many more.
