The Lunar New Year is celebrated across much of Asia 🧧 In China, where it originated, it‘s called the Spring Festival and is the biggest holiday of the year. Every region has its own unique customs to ring in the new year. Here are three vibrant local traditions from around the country:

1) In Guangdong’s Chaoshan region, revelers parade deities through the streets to pray for good fortune, accompanied by lively music and firecrackers
2) The annual iron flower show dazzles spectators in Wunüzhou in Jiangxi‘s Wuyuan County
3) The Bai ethnic group in Yunnan honours local deities in a traditional ceremony to show respect and share hopes for a harmonious year ahead.
