Last Saturday was a milestone.

It was a milestone in my career, a milestone in my journey and a milestone in my life.

The Grand Opening of Matchday Affairs office.

It made me proud. It was 7 years in the making.

If you had asked me 10 years ago; whether I would have been able or capable to have a retail shopfront or run a business, I would have laughed it off.

See, I grew up sick, so much so that I thought then, that it was a norm to have seizures and splitting headaches. I grew accustomed to it.

Then 10 years ago around this time, I was presented with the important crossroad of my life.

A neurosurgeon specialist that treated me presented me with 2 choices;

1st was to be on lifelong medication which will result in a lower quality of life, or the 2nd, was to undergo a high risk open brain surgery but there’s a chance that I will recover and live a healthy life.

I chose the latter, the high risk open brain surgery, which Alhamdulillah was a sound success. It turns out to be one of the best and important decisions that I have made.

That indirectly led to the birth of Matchday Affairs.

But of course, it just didn’t land on my lap. There were loads of challenges and obstacles.

That’s another story for another time.

So yesterday’s event was not a celebration for me.

Instead, it was dedicated to the people who have supported me right from the very beginning.

To my parents in law, thank you for giving me the opportunity, platform, support and trust to start Matchday Affairs.

To my parents, thank you for all the sacrifices, advices, motivations, encouragements and constant prayers to get to where I am now.

To my lovely wife, thank you for being my pillar of strength and support, constantly supporting me financially, emotionally and mentally.

Lastly, to my Matchday Affairs family and friends. If not for your support and friendship, we would not be where we are.

Thank you everyone who took time out your busy schedules to come. I hope you have an amazing time yesterday!

Earlier today, I received a text from my customer who went with me to Liverpool earlier this month.

He said that he had a gift for me for my new office.

As my day was pretty hectic, I thought nothing of it

Then he came.

To my surprise, he gave me an Original Limited Edition Signed LFC Merchandise all frame up and bought all the way from Liverpool.

Never did I expect a gift of this magnitude!

He told me that he was impressed and extremely happy with our service and because of that, he wanted to show his appreciation and support by gifting me this very precious gift.

That’s why I like to go the extra mile for our customers. They are human beings too and most will appreciate the effort.

Building relationships are essential in life. Whether you are in business or working, it’s how you treat people. Most of the time, if you treat people with respect and kindness, they will reciprocate.

But if they don’t, other goodness will come to you. ❤️☺️

FIVE YEARS IN THE MAKING!

It’s always been my dream to have an office or retail shop of my own. I had an office when I started Matchday Affairs back in 2019.

With the help of my in laws who at that time had 2 units, I rented their 2nd office and turn it into my space.

I did the bare minimum in terms of renovation, the basic reno were done by my in laws. I just had to some pictures and bought foldable table and chairs and voila! Done!

COVID then hit the world. No travel means no business. So we had to let go of our old space.

It was painful to let go but it had to be done to ensure our survival.

As global travel slowly resumed, to cut cost, I “tumpang” at my in laws office to conduct our operations which I’m very grateful for.

Fast forward to about 2 or 3 months ago, I had finally summoned the courage to look for my own space.

Last month, I finally summoned the courage to sign my first tenancy lease.

Last week, I received the keys to our new space and today, after doing up some minor renovations, our retail space is complete!

I’ve always wanted to do this experiential concept retail space right from the very beginning.

And finally today, with the great support of my wife, parents, parents in laws, friends and the Matchday Affairs family;

Alhamdulillah, after 5 years, finally I have realised one of my dreams I put on my vision board!

Extremely grateful I am!

Never give up no matter how long it takes.
Have patience. Trust and believe in yourself.
Be grateful even for the little things.

This is a reminder for me too.

Yesterday, I was invited to St Patrick’s School to speak to the graduating students.

I shared with the students on my life and entrepreneurial journey, from when I was ill to being healthy, the various side hustles that I did before, the challenges and setbacks that I face and why I started

Thank you for inviting me. I hope I made an impact on the young minds! 😅

I’m grateful and blessed to be able to do what I enjoy for a living.

It’s a lot of hard work, long hours and being away from family for long periods to reach here.

But it’s all worth it when I see the fans get to enjoy the experience of their lives. Seeing their happy faces and smiling and the tears of joy are priceless.

At that moment in time, then I feel that all the sacrifices are worth it!
