Our home is enlivened with the colours, tastes and textures of age-old Chinese traditions, and the team gathered today for a delectable lunch spread, a lively lion dance performance and a spirited lohei. We love the moments we have with each other in these exuberant experiences. Huat ah!

What a way to end the year! This week, we celebrated Motion’s growth, achievements and people with full day of fun and festivities.

We immersed in a meditative experience with sound bath experts .sg , engaged in meaningful conversations at our Town Hall, and honoured the team at our very own Mo Awards ceremony.

With a Christmas tree full of presents, scrumptious food and festive cheer, we had a blast savouring the last moments of the year with each other. Definitely an office party to remember.

Last week saw the fruition of Motion’s third partnership with Aesop, in the form of a tactile and sensorial activation currently happening at Fort Canning Park, Singapore.
 
The lush greenery of Singapore’s historical Fort Canning plays host to Aesop’s Khronos – a Skin Odyssey, which takes the form of an artful installation at Raffles House, and a series of skincare workshops at the Old Married Soldiers’ Quarters.
 
Capturing Aesop’s unhurried approach to skincare and brought to life with true partnership and passion, the unique structure within Raffles House weaves a narrative of our skin in conversation with time and the elements through a striking series of rooms and corridors you can explore. In keeping with our sensorial methodology and our love of inspiring the senses, this experience zone is filled with Aesop’s signature scents, evocative music, and an arresting visual quality before visitors engage their tactile sense exploring the samples and workshops.

Let's eat! 🥘 At Motion we are serious about the senses, never more so than when it comes to the gustatory. Our most recent potluck was a warm and wonderful way for us to reconnect around the feasting table and welcome new faces and hearts to the team. This potluck was themed around Singaporean favourites old and new, from the classic satay to an absolutely show stealing roti kirai that stirred nostalgia in the most mouthwatering way possible.

Considering the day ended with all smiles and no capsizes, it felt like a win for all of us!

Earlier this year, Motion took to the schools with a local public childhood figure. Branded Play Date with Sharity, Motion co-produced a series of school activations that saw participation by students from six schools, guided by none other than Sharity the Elephant.

The event was hosted in three selected schools across the island, and curated with care and inclusivity in mind. Primary school students had the opportunity to learn and play alongside others who might look or interact differently from them.

The project saw the team through months of preparation—from the creative narrative and story arc, to the interpretation of that into a 2D pop-up book and an experiential yet portable set build.

Digital illustrations were also captured at each activation. This art-piece allowed teachers to bring the conversation back to the classroom, creating room for longevity in the discussions that were fuelled during the activations.

The House of Motion is made a little more complete this week with the return of our two team members from France and Japan. Naturally, this calls for a group shot as we made our way to a local eatery nearby for some good ole chicken rice.

Last week, we experienced how art is not meant to be understood, but to be felt. As a team, we were moved by the flowing fabric, the dimmed lights, the spatial composition, the tactile arrangement, and the auditory design curated at the Singapore Art Week.

It was an invigorating time-out from our daily busyness, when our senses are in motion.

Bearing a transportive and reverential event tone, Othertopias – the second chapter of Aesop's partnership with motion in 2021 – presented an atmosphere that evoked reverie and awe. ⁠

Guests embarked on a journey into poetic landscapes that dialogued with nature. They encountered elements and details that cohered the sensitive curation of the event, such as a candlelit entryway that duly marked the beginning of their sensory experience.⁠
