A BROODING BEAST IN THE CORNER is an intimate dance-theatre performance featuring four solos bookended by two duets.
Reflecting on the distress caused by environmental crisis and political turmoil in the world, the performance searches for the meaning of individual’s place in this
apocalyptic time.
Let the show bring a glimmer of warm amidst the uncertain time of fears, yearning, grief, and alienation.

TWO EXQUISITE PAIRS
Two very different mood and dynamic duets bookended the Brooding Beast performance.
Marveen and Andine open the show with a duet full of submerged agony that the tension threatened to boil over the stage.
A new partnership for Aisha with guest dancer Gu Anran in an unexpected serene encounter. The duet, inspired by the mating dance of the red-crested cranes, serves as nature’s requiem to obliterate the despair and turmoil as seen in the performance.

We often show the performing side of the Arts Fission Dancers. Here’s a different profile of them as arts educators and mentors to their young charges.
They embark on the year-long training program that culminates into a public performance in every Nov. They assume the hybrid roles of both performer as well as educator.
This practice gives a different sense of fulfillment to the dancers and expand their professional dimension.

A 30-YEAR CREATIVE JOURNEY: “the arts granary”
ARTS FISSION’s “The Arts Granary” has been a creative repository for children since 2007. A production component — Young People Environmental Dance-theatre (YPED) serves to support the creative journeys of the young learners.
The child-centred performance blends nature and wildlife themes with Asian myths. Children performing alongside professional artists is a distinctive hallmark. Since 2002 YPED has proven that our “kids show” can be just as riveting to adults with deep insight and captivating theatre experience.
This year, we are presenting The Great Migratory Dance, highlighting Singapore’s role as a stopover for migratory birds.
Come check out these migratory visitors!
