Dawn of a new Era in Korean Offshore Wind Farm
The conclusion of EIA studies and the award of Electrical Business Licenses for many OWF projects with several fixed foundations in the west coast to one very significant cluster of floating foundations off Ulsan Channel in the east coast marks the beginning of the next phase - no more roadblocks from geotechnical investigation for foundation design, installation and commissioning of offshore wind turbines.
At SA Geolab International, we have been waiting for this moment, getting ready and positioning ourselves with the setting up of our accredited lab in Busan and the first with the full capability of basic, advanced and cyclic dynamic testing that fulfill all the technical requirements to undertake all these projects. Our lab engineers and technicians from Singapore, fully conversant in English, are well placed to engage all the wind farm majors and consultants.
The fact that geotechnical investigation is the beginning of any development, we are now inundated with many requests for quotations for various projects - more than 10 and more to come. It looks like SA Geolab becomes the bellwether on Korean wind farm.
We have also put in place to train fully our Korean lab and data processing staff including the transfer of our cutting-edge technology. However, in our quest to be the best and biggest in the country, we will endeavor to increase our capacity to meet the expected increase in demand.
Our GDS equipment:
Now/Jan2025/Jan2026:
Triaxial 18/36/72
Triaxial/Oedometer 5/10/18
Cyclic Triaxial 1/2/3
Direct Simple Shear 1/2/3
Cyclic DSS 1/2/4
Resonant Column 1/2/3
Hardin RCA 0/0/1
Ring Shear 1/2/3
All the expected increase in lab equipment has already been catered for and our lab, with a floor space of 2,200m2 and warehouse of 300m2 can absorb all of them. We are poised to engage.
