A Majestic Buddhist Stupa in Bhutan Chendebji Chorten is a Buddhist stupa located in the Trongsa district of Bhutan. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, known for its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere. The chorten was built in the 18th century by Lama Ngesup Tshering Wangchuk, reportedly to repel the demon Ngala. It is constructed in the style of Nepalese stupas, with a large white dome and four smaller domes at the corners. The dome is topped by a golden spire, and the walls are adorned with intricate carvings and paintings. Chendebji Chorten is believed to be a sacred site, and pilgrims from all over the world come to worship here. Visitors can walk around the chorten, chanting mantras and turning the prayer wheels. There is also a large prayer hall inside the complex, where visitors can sit and meditate. In addition to its religious significance, Chendebji Chorten is also a popular spot for picnics and nature walks. The chorten is surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Gangtey Monastery occupies a prestigious location atop a wooded hill that provides an enchanting vista of the entire Phobjikha valley, resplendent in its lush greenery. This expansive establishment comprises the central goemba, accommodations for monks, a modest guesthouse, and distant meditation centers. The 450-year-old goemba underwent extensive restoration work from 2001 to 2008 to combat a beetle-larvae infestation, rejuvenating both its interior and exterior woodwork. In the 15th century, during a visit to the Phobjikha valley, the renowned treasure-finder Pema Lingpa foretold the construction of a goemba named "gang-teng" (meaning hilltop) at this very spot. He prophesied that from here, his teachings would radiate far and wide. In 1613, Pema Thinley, the grandson and reincarnation of Pema Lingpa, laid the foundation of a Nyingma temple on this sacred site. The grander goemba was later erected by the second reincarnation, Tenzing Legpey Dhendup. Presently, the ninth reincarnation of the 'body' of Pema Lingpa, known as Gangte trulku, is Kunzang Pema Namgyal. The tshokhang, designed in the Tibetan architectural style, boasts 18 majestic pillars encircling an exceptional three-story inner atrium, making it one of the largest of its kind in Bhutan. Within its hallowed confines rests the funeral chorten of the founder, Tenzing Legpey Dhendup. The monastery's annual three-day tsechu celebration, held in September or October, culminates with the unveiling of an imposing thondrol on the final day. In other periods, this colossal thangka, an intricately crafted religious depiction, is securely housed within a steel container within the inner sanctum.
