Mebar Tsho, or the "Burning Lake," is like the magical spot in Bhutan's Bumthang Valley where history meets legend. Picture this: a revered Buddhist saint named Pema Lingpa once took a plunge into this lake holding a burning butter lamp. He emerged with treasures and sacred scriptures, and guess what? The lamp was still burning!
Have you visited Mebar Tsho to catch a bit of that legendary magic?

𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 – 𝐈𝐧 𝐔𝐊 𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏𝟐 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲.
Amber, a happiness agent, travels the Bhutanese Himalayas surveying people's happiness. On his remote mountain journey, he searches for fulfilment.
How can you measure happiness? The country of Bhutan invented Gross National Happiness to do just that, and Amber is one of the agents who travels door to door to meet people and measure how happy they really are. He is still living with his elderly mother at the age of 40, but is nevertheless a hopeless romantic who dreams of finding love: a happiness agent who is in search of his own happiness. We embark with Amber on a cross-country road trip meeting citizens from all walks of life, reminding us of the fragility and beauty of our own happiness. No matter where we live.

Kurjey Lhakhang, located in the Bumthang Valley of central Bhutan, is one of the most sacred and historically significant monasteries in Bhutan. Here are some interesting and fun facts about Kurjey Lhakhang. The temple is named after the body print (kurjey) of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), a revered Buddhist master who is believed to have introduced Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century. The body print is preserved on a rock inside the main temple.

🇧🇹🇸🇬
🇸🇬 🇧🇹 Singapore and Bhutan share a warm friendship, underpinned by strong people-to-people ties.
Happy to meet the King of Bhutan His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck this morning. His Majesty is an old friend to Singapore, and I last met him during my visit to Bhutan in 2013. As fellow small states, Singapore and Bhutan cooperate closely in areas of mutual interest. His Majesty and I had a good discussion on Bhutan’s development as well as how we can strengthen bilateral ties going ahead.
Hope that His Majesty has a fruitful and enjoyable visit to Singapore, and I look forward to meeting him again soon.

Nestled amidst the serene Punakha Valley of Bhutan, the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten stands as a beacon of spiritual tranquillity and architectural splendor. Commissioned by Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck in 1994, this majestic chorten, also known as the "Temple of the All Perfections," embodies the essence of Bhutan's rich cultural heritage and profound Buddhist faith. The chorten's four-tiered structure, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant hues, symbolizes the path to enlightenment. Each level represents a different stage of spiritual development, culminating in the open stupa at the top, which offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding valley. The chorten's interior is a labyrinth of sacred chambers, each housing a unique collection of sacred relics and murals depicting scenes from Buddhist mythology. The air resonates with the gentle murmur of prayer wheels spun by countless pilgrims, their hands tracing the mantra of compassion as they seek blessings and inner peace. A visit to Khamsum Yulley Chorten is not merely a sightseeing excursion; it is an immersion into the heart of Bhutan's spiritual essence. As you ascend the hill towards the chorten, the tranquillity of the surroundings soothes your soul, preparing you for the profound spiritual experience that awaits within.

Phobjikha Valley: A Peaceful Haven for Cranes and Humans Alike Phobjikha Valley is a vast U-shaped glacial valley in central Bhutan, located at an elevation of about 3,000 meters (9,800 feet). A Majestic Buddhist Stupa in Bhutan Chendebji Chorten is a Buddhist stupa located in the Trongsa district of Bhutan. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, known for its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere. The chorten was built in the 18th century by Lama Ngesup Tshering Wangchuk, reportedly to repel the demon Ngala. It is constructed in the style of Nepalese stupas, with a large white dome and four smaller domes at the corners. The dome is topped by a golden spire, and the walls are adorned with intricate carvings and paintings. Chendebji Chorten is believed to be a sacred site, and pilgrims from all over the world come to worship here. Visitors can walk around the chorten, chanting mantras and turning the prayer wheels. There is also a large prayer hall inside the complex, where visitors can sit and meditate. In addition to its religious significance, Chendebji Chorten is also a popular spot for picnics and nature walks. The chorten is surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Gangtey Monastery occupies a prestigious location atop a wooded hill that provides an enchanting vista of the entire Phobjikha valley, resplendent in its lush greenery. This expansive establishment comprises the central goemba, accommodations for monks, a modest guesthouse, and distant meditation centers. The 450-year-old goemba underwent extensive restoration work from 2001 to 2008 to combat a beetle-larvae infestation, rejuvenating both its interior and exterior woodwork. In the 15th century, during a visit to the Phobjikha valley, the renowned treasure-finder Pema Lingpa foretold the construction of a goemba named "gang-teng" (meaning hilltop) at this very spot. He prophesied that from here, his teachings would radiate far and wide. In 1613, Pema Thinley, the grandson and reincarnation of Pema Lingpa, laid the foundation of a Nyingma temple on this sacred site. The grander goemba was later erected by the second reincarnation, Tenzing Legpey Dhendup. Presently, the ninth reincarnation of the 'body' of Pema Lingpa, known as Gangte trulku, is Kunzang Pema Namgyal. The tshokhang, designed in the Tibetan architectural style, boasts 18 majestic pillars encircling an exceptional three-story inner atrium, making it one of the largest of its kind in Bhutan. Within its hallowed confines rests the funeral chorten of the founder, Tenzing Legpey Dhendup. The monastery's annual three-day tsechu celebration, held in September or October, culminates with the unveiling of an imposing thondrol on the final day. In other periods, this colossal thangka, an intricately crafted religious depiction, is securely housed within a steel container within the inner sanctum. Ascending to the upper levels, you'll find the Machey Lhakhang, housing the central funeral chorten of the sixth Gangte trulku. Monastic lore has it that upon the lama's passing, his physical form diminished to the size of a newborn baby and eventually dwindled to that of a peanut, a phenomenon that continues to inspir
