Starting the day with a visit to the Kumamoto Castle which had undergo restoration after the earthquake few years ago.

On a cool night, hearty meal of warm hotpot is always much welcomed. Especially when the special soup is made by hand every morning, based on kelp (produced in Rishiri) and bonito flakes (the highest quality bonito flakes produced in Kagoshima Prefecture). Seven types of vegetables are slowly simmered for over 5 hours. And with the famous local kurobuta pork. Not to be misses if you in Kagoshima.
