Ok, so, here's the thing. My food tours will still be ongoing but I am switching from being a business owner to yet another year of trying to be a good new mom. (I hope I kinda did that with my first kid?) 2020 has been a trip like none before and 2021 doesn't seem to be sparing me crazy experiences either. So from now on till about a year later, my tours will be run by my fabulous friends from . And I'll be momming. Thank you all for everything in the past 7 years and... who knows, I'll see you in 2022. Take care and all the love, truly. Iva

🐝It's world bee day (Slovenia was its generator) and this is a woodden bee I keep on my balcony for my kid's entertainment. We also watch bees intensly (as is everything at 2 years of age) in the fields. And we don't forget to indulge in honey every day. Slovenia truly is a bee and honey heaven. I wish you a bee-utiful day and keep it sweet! 🐝

Well, some restrictions are still in effect, but: due to a very good trait, Slovenia has ended its epidemic state. Yippie? In a way, yes, of course! This means we've done a great job. On the other hand, we're still not where we used to be before this March. But hey ... if you're thinking Slovenia ... this might be a good reason why!

Ljubljana life is (almost) back! Yep, from today on bars and restaurants can again serve their guests at their patios. Of course restrictions apply and they're not viable for every business (hence not all of our favorite places are open), but point is: you can have your coffee in the sun and drink it too! Small victories. Let's rejoice. 🍷🤸‍♀️

Well, we knew this already but apparently the whole world knows now: Ljubljana based Broken Bones was named best in Europe! Cheers to that!!! Read the news here: https://www.total-slovenia-news.com/made-in-slovenia/6132-slovenian-gin-named-best-in-europe And of course: drink responsibly, excessive drinking damages your health. (and we need it now quite seriously)

Slovenia has a long tradition of growing juniper berries (brina) and turning them into alcohol (brinjevec or brinavec), and thus the rise of Slovenian...

Dear all. It's quite unusual for me but I almost have no words. Due to coronavirus situation in Slovenia (epidemic) my LjubljanaYum food tours are suspended till further notice. And with that my life as I have known it too. Food tours are (or have been?) my life and I've created them out of sheer love and passion for Ljubljana and its food. And now, after almost 7 years, I am left without any guest to show them the yummy side of the Alps. As a private business owner I am aware of all the perils such a venture might bring (eg. businesses collapsing), but this is something quite different, quite unimaginable. It is not just about me being out of business, it's pretty much everybody in the service industry - your hair stylist, your favorite bar, your hole-in-the-wall noodle place, your kindergarten, your cool neighbor the pilot, a lot of people. What happens next? I have no idea. What I do know, however, is that because of you I was able to keep my business alive and this is something I cannot thank you enough. For trusting me, us, to guide you through Ljubljana (and beyond), to make my dreams of establishing this business come true, to even come back because of us. For that I am forever grateful. And I have, with grave hearts, another favor to ask you. Currently I am facing not only an uncertain future but also bills that have to be paid now (I am a mom of a toddler, if not anything else), so even though you've already showed us your support by booking our tours, you can additionally do so with donations over at PayPal.Me/ljubljanayum if you wish. Totally by choice. Not mandatory. To conclude with, I hope to inform you again with some brighter news and we'll all be loving Ljubljana foodie scene together soon. Let's trust in this. And I wish everybody out there who's going through the same - we got this. Stay safe. Much love. Iva (Photo by my dear friend Mankica Kranjec, another one biting the dust)

Happy women's day, foodies! As we've said a few times, this food tour company is run by a few of us, ladies, but we welcome to our tours any gender. Just maybe today we'll use this opportunity and say we're leading the way. :) We are so grateful to be able to do this activity for you, to have you as our guests, to meet other inspiring women (and men). Have a fantastic celebration and come tour this city with one of our amazing women. Cheers! Photo: Mankica Kranjec

How to start your week? With good food could be a great option. Preferably in Ljubljana, best with our food tours. And Jen from Unexpected Realities certainly knows this - because she's toured with us the yummy side of Ljubljana twice already and she's even thinking of joining us the third time. Why? Well ... read her blog and see how much you drool over her photos and words. Thanks so much, dear Jen, you all are so much joy and can't wait to see you again in Ljubljana soon!

Ah, Ljubljana. The city that no one knows how to pronounce. (It’s lyoo-BLYAH-nuh, by the way.) Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia, and it’s our favorite small-big city. The first…

We're not done with pust yet! Our office mate Wandering Helene neither - so we suggest you read her take on our fascinating tradition. And while you're reading it, the only way to do it properly is to devour a🍩 krof🍩 while at it. Oh, what's a krof you say? Ljubljana donuts! Sooooo tasty and worth the wait. Although you can have this traditional Slovenian pastry all year round, traditionally these succulent, so unhealthy but so so good deep fried balls called krofi would be available only around carnival time – which is right about now - and we swear they still taste the best in season! And there’s many more flavours and tastes now than in the past so we’ve scouted some local Ljubljana donut favorites to help you celebrate this Slovenian tradition (pagan) in style. Have you tried donuts from Best Western Premier Hotel Slon, Grand Hotel Union, Domača peka, Barbarella Juicebar, Slaščičarna Rašica?! Any other local favorites among you? Share them with us!

Where to find the best donut in Ljubljana? Around carnival time, these are the spots not to be missed: hotel Slon, hotel Union, Domača peka and many more.
