On Tuesday we were observing the International day of people with disabilities. And even before that, last week Brussels was hosting a conference European day of Persons with disabilities. They put up a number of strategic goals, which need to be fulfilled till 2030 with the aim of improving the living standards of people with disabilities. They are gave awards to the best wheelchair accessible cities. For 2025 Access city awards are going to Vienna, Nurnberg and Caratega (as a reminder Ljubljana also won three Access City awards in the period of 2015-2022).
On International day of people with disabilities Slovene organization of disabled stated that more often than before people are taking parking places reserved for the disabled (fine is only 200 eur) and that not enough transport vehicles and public buildings are accessible for the disabled, all the factors which lower the level of inclusion of people with disabilities to the society.

Today (3rd December) we were observing the International Day of Persons with disabilities. It has been observed worldwide since year 1992 and 15 percent of World's population has one form of disability. Slovenia has 2.1 million population and more than 170.000 of them have one type of disability. On this important holiday they emphasized they want to be an integral and equal part of the society not just on 3rd of December, but also on other 364 days in the year.
And one additional information regarding Slovene culture and customs. On 3rd December in Slovenia we are observing the "so called - That happy day" when all cultural institutions are free of charge for visit and several guided tours are organized on that day. 3 December is the birthday of our greatest poet France Prešeren (born 03.12.1800).

Slovenia has in the last decade become a famous foodie destination! Why not visit it and enjoy everything has to offer? we can help you out with that, either you would like to try some "Germanic" style sausages, good stews influenced by Hungarians or some tasty South Slavic Balcanian food! :P

The city is only around two hours from the UK, and is renowned for its natural beauty, walkable streets and rich history.

Society of the disabled from Ljubljana have organized painting workshops for the wheelchair users. They took place in the premises of the University Rehabilitation Institute Soča, which also helped organize this noble event. Attendees of the workshops for also greeted by the director of the Soča institute and chief medical ceo of the department for patients with spinal cord injuries. Special guests was also Vojko Gašperut, who is paining with his mouth for decades. His works were exhibited in Paris, Shanghai, Rio De Janeiro and New York.

Prisluhnite podcastu z Katarino Miličević. Že šest let je ambasadorka Zavoda Vozim, v okviru katerega mlade v osnovnih in srednjih šolah opozarja na posledice prehitre vožnje, o vzrokih za nesrečo ter jim pripoveduje, s kakšnimi posledicami poškodbe hrbtenjače živi.
Katarina Miličević is 40 years old and for already 18 years she is wheelchair user. For last six years she is an ambassador for the Institute Vozim (I'm driving). She is visiting educational institution where she is explaining the dangers and consequences of fast driving to the students and how her life has been since she ended up in the wheelchair. Podcast is in Slovene language and more suitable for our Slovenian followers.
