URKO Fishing Adventures organises guided fly fishing/fishing tours around the beautiful Slovenian rivers, lakes and see. We're operating near the capital city of Ljubljana and offering fly fishing tours to nearby rivers. Like the quiet green marsh beauty Ljubljanica, the mysterious Bistra whose springs come from under an old Carthusian Monastery, or the small clear Iška, which flows through the pi

cturesque Iška gorge. But first and foremost, we organise fly fishing guided tours to our most beautiful and well-known rivers across Slovenia. Like our daughter of mountains, the picturesque Soča and Idrijca with its renowned marble trout, the unique river Unica, one of the best grayling rivers in Europe, the green river of love Krka with its famous cascades made out of travertine, or the cold mountain beauties Radovna, Sava Bohinjka, Savinja and many more. The gem of our offer is the guided tours to fish pike and the king of Slovenian streams, the hucho hucho (Danube salmon). You can catch these apex predatory fish with our guides on the beautiful river Ljubljanica, mighty Sava, alpine beauties Sava Bohinjka, Savinja, Unica, Cerkniško lake and many more, where you can land the largest specimens in our country. The customer can decide on the technique of fly fishing or with conventional gear. Our offer includes the unique experience of fly fishing or spinning from a boat at the river Ljubljanica. The unique offer is fly fishing for mahi-mahi/Dorado on the Slovenian sea in September and October from a boat in collaboration with our partner, See fishing Slovenia.

When the hucho hucho 👑 game is down, the pike 🐊 is here to save the day 💪💪💪

Michael and Christian wanted to try something different, as they had already tried some other venues in Sloveniain the past. We decided to try it at our home rivers and, on day two, on something much bigger, the Sava.
The pike saved day one, as Michael landed a nice one around noon. They did have a few more chances/bites but we needed more luck to end up with more fish in the net.
The same can be said for the second day, especially for Christian, who started the day with two follows of a fish around 1m, all the way below his legs. 😤 Later in the day, he got a nice solid bite, but the fish didn't stay on. 😤😤
It was tough, but at least we had our chances.
That's fishing/hucho hucho game. That's why we love it. 😅

Duff: "Just one, it doesn't need to be a big one." 🙏

This was Duff's second try on a 👑. And if the first trip years back almost discouraged him to give it another try, I'm pretty sure this year's worked the opposite. 🤓
Three days of pursuit started literally with a bite on a first cast. Of course, he was not ready! 😅🤦‍♂️ Even so, I was preparing him for something like this can happen.
This fine hucho hucho came on a third day in the morning, and with that, our mission was done. He had four bites in total, all fish around +/-70 cm, numerous follows, and we saw some massive ones.
Next year, we're doing it again, and this time, there will be a new mission: get bigger and get Tony one. 😁💪🤞

Day 3 with Ross and Richard was reserved for a boat

As in two previous days, the goal on the third day was hucho hucho, but as so many times before, on a boat, it ended up more like a pike day. So, no kings were landed that day; even so, we saw three. Instead, pike was much more game. The morning was slow, but later, when it got warmer, we saw more and more fish, and at one point, they started to connect. In the end, we saw around ten fish and connected six times. Being the lucky one, Richard landed two, which were his first ever pike on a fly. 😎👌💪

Day 2 was the time for Ross to shine 🔥🔥🔥

The day couldn't start better. First fishing spot, and not even 20 minutes in, Ross hooked a solid 👑 on a fly. After a short fight, a solid 90+ hucho hucho was in the net. This fish basically wrapped up the whole trip. So, whatever happens from now on is just the cherry on top.
Funny enough, that was far from over. We saw plenty of fish, had follows, and even bites. In the end, Richard caught a lovely pike in the afternoon, and Ross got another nice 👑 later in the evening. Richard came close as he got another solid bite on his fly, but the fish didn't stick to check us out. 😤😅
And we still had one more day left. 😎💪

Having fun with 👑👑👑 on a small stream 👌

On the first day with Ross and Richard, we decided to start with something easy, nothing complicated, and to familiarize ourselves with what we would be dealing with for the next few days. The day was going calmly, as part of the expectations given the very clear low water conditions. However, we saw quite a few smaller hucho hucho (40-70 cm), and despite the conditions, we had some action. The closest came Ross, on the biggest fish seen of the day (90+), who was just centimeters away from a bite. 😬😤 Well, towards the end of the day, luck smiled on Richard with a beautiful 👑 (88 cm) for this stream size. And just like that, this fish made the day, and the ice was broken. 😁💪
It was a great opening day that predicted exciting events in the coming days. So stay tuned! 😏

Unfortunately, this time, Wolfgang and Lutz's trip was cut short due to bad weather and high water levels. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
However, we still managed to squeeze out a few days on our rivers. Despite the fact that the fishing was quite demanding, we had a great time. In any case, I'll see Wolfgang soon, and we'll give it another try. 😁💪

Artur is on a three-week road trip from 🇵🇱 to 🇦🇱, and one of his in-between stops was 🇸🇮 as he wanted to fly fish here.

To cut the story short, Artur reached out to me by recommendation to see if I could guide him.

Artur's single wish was to catch a marble trout from Soča. 🩵💚💙

Since that part was ✔️ fairly quickly, he upgraded his wish to catch a solid marble trout.
We did that around midway in, and we ✔️ that part, too.
Third ✔️ came at the end when he said, "Let's get one more fish before we wrap up," and just like that, we ended with his second biggest marble trout.

Two days with Donna at the upper Soča Valley were pure fly fishing poetry 🩵💚💙

Sun, rain, mystical mists, picturesque scenery, and hungry trout all over the place, eating dries and nymphs all day. We soon stopped counting how many we had in the net, and we just knew it would be hard to repeat something like this. There were some memorable catches, but the highlight was a fantastic marble trout buck just over 21'. 💪👌

Chris's dream came true 💪🤝

Chris travelled around this part of Europe to get to know the country where his grandparents came from and to take advantage of the opportunity to fish our pristine waters for a few days in the hope of catching marble trout, grayling and other trout species.

He checked practically all the boxes, landing his first marble trout ever, grayling of a lifetime over 20', some excellent rainbows, and with the desire to return soon.

Chris, it was a pleasure to guide you, and we look forward to seeing you again.

Donna did it again 👌👌👌

It was Donna's second trip to Slovenia, and she did great despite not having the easiest conditions. Water levels were probably at the lowest in the season, and still, pretty high temperatures outside. But all this didn't affect fishing at all. We had five fantastic days together, surprisingly good with a dry fly, and caught some excellent fish.
Idrijca was one of our most challenging sessions, and the morning was not promising. Fish were super skittish and were not feeding. Despite that, we managed to get a couple of them into the net. But the whole thing picked up when we got a sprinkle of rain in the afternoon. It looked like that was just enough to get fish going. By that, I mean they still need a ton of persuasion with the tiniest flies and tippets. But Donna was a true pro. Despite losing a few good ones at the start, she later handled some solid ones to the net, with two standing out, a big marble around 21' and a healthy wild rainbow at more than 21'.
