The frost of Autumn has arrived, and we know that snow is not too far behind. Autumn in Slovenia is full of crisp, sunny days, warm bowls of fresh mushroom soup, fewer tourists and a slower pace.
We have made a small change this year to our rentals. This year, we are only renting out the main part of the house comprising of the main and lower level.
Why? Because our top floor apartment is currently home to a energetic young Ukrainian woman named Alina and her three-year-old son Lyovo. We were connected with them through a group called Ukraine Shelter (founded by a man from Kropa!). We are happy to host them, and they feel safe and secure in Radovljica.
They are our guests at Villa Sava, and she is earning some spending money cleaning for us and at a few other local places. The tourism traffic typically slows down in mid-October and jobs get fewer and farther between. In light of this, we encourage you to consider booking a visit to Villa Sava this year. Our Ukranian guests are not looking for a handout, but a hand up.
The Villa is a nice getaway at any time of year, and there is much to do year-round in Slovenia.
Thank you/Hvala Lepa/Дякую тобі
Ukraine Shelter is creating support and safe housing for Ukrainians displaced by the war. We will do our best to contact and help everyone who needs or offers help, however please understand that we are desperately busy and trying to work under difficult circumstances.
