"The Devin Castle, the second castle of Bratislava, is one of Slovakia's oldest buildings. It sits at the confluence of two mighty rivers, the Danube and the Morava, at the frontier of three countries: Slovakia 🇸🇰, Austria 🇦🇹, and Czechia 🇨🇿. During the communist era (1949-1989), the area around Devin Castle was nearly inaccessible due to its location on the Iron Curtain frontier. The 'Gate of Freedom' memorial stands here, honoring those who sought to escape from the 'socialist paradise' to the 'free world'.

Devinsky Ribezliak, a currant wine, is also characteristic of the Devin area.

To explore Devin Castle, book our Bratislava Grand City Tour, which includes Devin Castle, or contact us via email or phone.

Discover the iconic Roland Fountain, a historical gem in the heart of Bratislava. Erected in memory of the first coronation in Bratislava on 08.09.1563 of Hungarian King Maximilian II from the Habsburg dynasty, this fountain holds a special place in our city's heritage. Locals affectionately call it the "Roland Fountain," inspired by the legendary knight Roland, who is said to have lived here. According to folklore, the statue magically turns around once a year on New Year's Eve, visible only to sober virgins. However, the tradition remains unseen, as the square is bustling with celebrations. Join us in exploring this enchanting landmark and unravel the myths of Bratislava!

🌟 Discovering Bratislava's Iconic Gem 🌟

The Primate's Palace in Bratislava, built in 1781 for former Estergom Archbishop Lajos Batthyány, is a stunning example of classicism. During the Austro-Hungarian war with the Ottoman Empire, Bratislava (then known as Pressburg, Poszony, or Prešporok) became the capital of the Hungarian Kingdom for almost 200 years, hosting all major institutions.

This historic palace is where the peace treaty between Napoleon's France and Austria was signed after the Battle of Austerlitz. Today, it serves as a museum, with its mirror hall being a popular wedding venue for young couples. Visitors can also admire the precious English gobelins depicting the tragic love story of Leandro & Hero.
