Over the past three days, we had the honor of participating in the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nauru 🇳🇷.
Together with colleagues from Vienna and in collaboration with the Austrian police, we ensured safe transportation, whether from the airport or within Vienna.
The discussions focused on climate change, the geopolitical situation in the Indo-Pacific, global security issues, migration, and cooperation within the United Nations.
🌊 Climate change poses an existential threat, particularly to Pacific island nations like Nauru. Austria supports the Higher Ground Initiative, which aims to protect populations from the impacts of rising sea levels.
⚖️ The Indo-Pacific region is of growing geopolitical importance, with trade routes that are vital for Europe as well.
🌏 Austria and Nauru have jointly committed to upholding an international rules-based order!
