We had the incredible luck of spotting a silky anteater while exploring Peperpot Nature Park during our Hiking Tour with wildlife guide Danny Stark! They are usually tough to find, but there it was! Known as the smallest anteater species, this nocturnal critter spends its nights scurrying through the trees, using its long, sticky tongue to scoop up ants, termites and even bees! And though it looks cute and harmless, those tiny paws hide some pretty sharp claws, perfect for both climbing and defending itself if needed!
Watching this tiny acrobat move with such ease through the branches was an unforgettable moment. It's reminding us of the incredible diversity that thrives in Surinameโs lush landscapes.

What an epic challenge! Climbing up and down Julianatop is no easy feat, but we took it on with everything we had! ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป? To set the fastest recorded time, and guess what? We did it! ๐ช #guinnesworldrecord
But it wasn't without its hurdles, Mother Nature had some surprises for us:
๐ Matthew disturbed a wasp nest and got stung.
๐ Dick ran into a beesโ nest and was absolutely brutalised.
๐ Jacob, quite literally, had ants in his pants after an encounter with army ants.
๐ฟ And between the four of us, we pulled off nearly 300 ticks!
We scrambled over boulders, navigated through dense trees, and faced every obstacle the jungle threw at us. This adventure wasnโt just a climb, it was a battle!

We tried to get some rest, but the jungle had a different idea! After a long day, our feet are soaked and we're tired, ready to relax in our hammocks, only to find millions of army ants had already claimed them! Poor Jacob took the brunt of it and got swarmed by them! Now, weโre waiting for these tiny intruders to clear out so we can finally get some rest. Just another day in paradise! โจ

Yesterday, we successfully reached the summit of Julianatop! It was a bit tougher than we expected, and weโve shed a few kilos along the way. Ash and Matthewโs feet are feeling it, but Dick and Jacob are doing okay. The return trip was much quicker than expected, and we made it back to the landing site sooner than planned. Weโre now reunited with our food and supplies, which is a welcome sight!
Weโll be taking the next couple of days to rest up and let our feet recover. Overall, weโre in good spirits and doing well. Now itโs time to dry out our gear and recharge. Weโll be sharing some epic content from this adventure soon, stay tuned!

After days of trekking through dense jungle, weโve now started our climb up the Julianatop, Surinameโs highest peak. Hunger is setting in since we havenโt been able to fish for a few days, and we had to leave most of our food behind at the landing spot, the challenge is real. But weโre powering through and staying focused on the goal".
