🕷️ Meet the Red-legged Bird Spider! 🕷️

This fascinating spider is perhaps the most well-known bird spider because it's often found near, inside houses or lodges in the hinderland. With their hefty, hairy bodies, they certainly catch the eye! Their flattened, round bodies sport tiny eyes hardly visible on their small heads. What makes them even more intriguing are their two large, foreleg-like appendages used for sensing and grasping.

And let's not forget those strikingly bright orange-yellow tips adorning their legs!

As for their venom, it's said to be akin to the sting of a small wasp. They construct beautiful nests from white silk, complete with a perfectly round entrance. And their diet? Well, they eat just about anything they can catch, from insects to anything else they dare to attack. Interestingly, they only suck the juices from their prey rather than consuming them entirely.

Did you know that females can produce dozens of babies? They lay their eggs in a nest, from which many little spiderlings emerge. And while males live for about 2 to 3 years, females can live for 8 to 12 years!

So, if you ever spot a spider crossing the street, it might just be one of these curious creatures. They do love to hang out in houses and sheds. 🏡🕷️

March 12, we have organized the international free run marathon in Guyana on the South Dakota race track starting at 03:30am with 24 happy international runners. The oldest one from Taiwan, 75 years.
Also mr. Kaus a german, who is the 2nd place holder of the most countries done a marathon, counted 171!

On march 14 we will continue in Suriname with these runners and 19 local runners. This will be at Cola Kreek and Vierkinderen also starting 02:30am.
