In accordance with the education system of the Republic of South Sudan and the state ministry of education, all pupils shall abide by these Rules and regulations of the Ministry of Education during the course of their study at school. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SCHOOL
PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is
• To help foster good discipline in each and every pupils/student completing schooling,
• To facilitate the inculcation of good citizenship values, along with religious and cultural values,
• To aid the schools in fostering respectability, productivity, knowledge, skills, and instill good health in pupils/students
PLACE OF REGULATION
This regulation is imposed on to all pupils/students studying in schools of the Precious Stone Nursery and Primary Schools in Republic of south Sudan. This regulation will be implemented by schools and people involved in providing education. The term ‘school’ in this regulation implies to all common places where education is provided to students/pupils. ARTICLES
Article I. Respecting the Laws and Regulations
• Every pupils/student must follow the laws and principles of Christianity, fulfill the obligatory duties and refrain from wrong doings.
• Every pupils/student must abide by the laws, rules and regulation of the Republic of south Sudan. Article II
School Attendance
• Every pupils/student should come to school on time. . Pupils/Students participating in any extra activities should be punctual to the activity as well.
• 2.2 Pupils absent for school due to illness or any other valid reason must present written reasonS for the absence, from the parents/guardians to the school, when the Pupils return to school. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to send the letter to school and the class teacher should sign this letter as well.
• Student/pupils infected with a communicable disease, must present a medical certificate from a certified medical practitioner, when the pupils/student returns to school. Note: Information on communicable diseases is attached with this regulation.
• The school store is out of bounds to pupils. Permission to centre the store will only be granted by an authorized person.
• All pupils must respect their colleagues, Teachers and the administration in all aspects.
• All teachers should respect one another, and the teachers should respect the pupils. Any teachers who fighting within the school compound should be handling by the displinary committee or report to senior Pastor or foundation body of the school (Church councils )
• All the teachers must speak English during the school time within the school compound any teacher found speak in vulgar languages will face the displinary committee of the school
• All teachers both on duty should reports to the school compound 15 minutes before the assembly start.
• The compound should be maintained clean and properly sweep during the school moment.
• Writing on walls, and furniture’s is not allowed.
• Unnecessary noise and movement during lessons and teachers are out of class is prohibited. Culprits shall be liable for punishment.
• Fighting trading abuses and use of vulgar languages is prohibited. Offenders shall be punished. Article III:
Things needed for School
• All necessary materials should be brought to school according to the school timetable and any material requested by the school should be brought to school too. Other unnecessary materials are not allowed in the school and it is the responsibility of the church leaders, school administration and parents/guardians to see that such unnecessary things are not brought to school.
• Materials brought to the school including the stationary, should be relevant to age and grade. In this respect, the material brought should not be very expensive.
• Materials other than mentioned in article 3.1 are not allowed to be brought to school. Article IV:
School Uniform and Dress Code
• Every pupils/student should attend school and other places representing the school wearing the school uniform. This will not be followed in cases where the school has arranged activities that do not require the normal uniform
• Jewelry, a necklace/chain is not permitted in school by girls. This necklace/chain should not be displayed with the school uniform.
• Boys are not permitted any form of jewelry, a necklace/chain with or without the uniform.. It is the responsibility of the parent to see the pupils/student adheres to, this regulation.
• Hair, of every pupils/student must be kept clean and neat.
• Nails should be cut short and clean.
• Make-up is not permitted with the school uniform or when involved with any activity related to school. (NB: exception will be make-up put on for school plays, etc.).
• Dying and colouring of hair and applying hair gel are not permitted.
• The school uniform must be worn regularly in the school and on other school functions like; games and sports competition.
• Shirts must be tucked in every day during school hours an necessary movement with the compound is not allow during class time
Article V:
Pupils Traveling Abroad
5.1 Parents/guardians of pupils/student traveling abroad during the school days should inform in writing to the school and a letter of consent has to be taken from the school. Traveling abroad with permission of parents/guardians during the holidays is not included in this category.
5.2 Parents/guardians of pupils/student participating in any extra activities during the school holidays should inform in writing to the school and the letter of consent has to be taken from the school before leaving. Article VI:
Protection of School Properties and Rights of Other /Pupils
6.1 Pupils/Students are not allowed to harm any pupils/student, property and/or building inside or out side the school. Getting involved with others in such destructive behavior is prohibited
6.2 Pupils are not permitted to take or use another students belonging without their prior permission
6.3 If a pupils/student does harm to another pupils/student, person, school property and building, the full responsibility of the action and damage has to be taken by that particular pupils/student and his/her parents/guardians. Article VII:
Participating in Activities outside the School
7.1 pupils are not permitted to participate in any clubs, associations without the permission of the school or unless the school has given the opportunity to do so.
7.2 A pupils/student is permitted to participate in School inters port, public sports, music shows, drama and other such functions in school and outside
7.3 A pupils/student can appear in films, public shows; record music for music albums only after consent has been sought from the school. This consent will be given by the school, after the role of the pupils/student is assessed by the school
Article VIII:
Social ethical and moral considerations for pupils
8.1 Every pupils/student must obey the laws and principles of Christianity and respect cultural and moral values of the society.
8.2 Every pupils/student must respect and obey their parents
8.3 Every pupils/student must obey and respect school Administration, teachers, church leaders, supporting staff of the school, and education officials both at Payam, County, state and national level.
8.4 Every pupils/student should show respect and use appropriate language in communicating with others.
8.5 Every pupils/ student should be punctual to school and use the time valuably.
8.6 Every pupils/ student should make good use of the opportunities presented to them, be committed and hardworking
8.7 Every Pupils/student should learn to economize his or her times, materials and Funds.
8.8 English is official mode of communication. Speaking vernacular in and out of school is not permitted
• Tests, examinations, lessons, and exercise are compulsory; dodging any without informing the school authority is punishable.
• Pupils involved in giving nick names to their colleagues and teachers, stigmatizing, persons with disabilities shall be liable to punishment.
• Female pupils discovered to be pregnant and male students discovered to be responsible shall be liable for explanations and expulsion.
• Bodily hygiene trimming fingernails, brushing teeth, bathing etc all environmental hygiene, proper use of latrines, cleaning the compound and sweeping the classrooms is a must.
• Every pupils/ student should respect their elders and show caring for the young
Article XI. Things Prohibited to Students
• Smoking and drinking beer
• Abuse of narcotics drugs
• Coming late in the school
• Coming to school without uniform
• Involving in physical activities with each other where the societal, behavioral norms are breached
9.5 Being in the school uniform other than for school activities
9.6 Being a part or participating in any riots, chaos, fighting, and rallies
9.7 Marriage
9.9 Involving in any sexual misconduct
9.10 Engaging in political party and participating in any activities organized by them.
9.11 Use of mobile phones during school hours
9.12 In addition to what is mentioned above, any thing that breaches the Christian law, school law and the Constitutional Law of the Republic south Sudan. Article X. Pupils Employment
10.1 pupils employed for remuneration is strictly prohibited (assisting in family work that is compatible with age is not included. Work experience with the school consent is also not included in this category). Article XI:
Taking action against children who breaches these rules and regulations
Action should be taken in accordance with the regulations imposed by the Ministry of Education school laws and, Christian law. These include:
11.1 Giving advice and recording the problem
11.2 Suspending from sports and other activities according to the school policy
11.3 Keeping children after school and completing a task (appropriate for students) given by the school.
11.4 Informing the parent and reminding the parent of their duty
11.5 Suspending the pupils/ student for a limited time
11.6 Warning about expelling the pupils/ student from school
11.7 Expelling the pupils/student from school
