It has been an awesome 2024! A lot of new friends came birding to El Salvador, Casa Colibri is receiving its firsts guests, I had the chance to be for the second time a Local/Field Producer for a nature documentary, this time for the German TV Channel ARTE.I met amazing business people and communicators at the CATM 2024, I visited every single corner of my beautiful country, and the most important thing to share my passion on birds with every single person that hired me as their guide or that follows me in the different platforms, Thank you to every single person that was part of this 2024 specially to my wife who is always by my side. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and May You and your family has a superb 2025.

Yesterday we had an amazing day birding in the main hotspots around San Salvador Volcano with Carol and her husband from Ontario, Canada. We started at Chanmico lagoon continue at El Boqueron Park (Main Crater) and finished at El Espino Ecopark. We spotted a large variety of birds from the local Ruddy Duck at the lagoon, the Mexican Violetear at the top of the crater and at Cafe El Volcan Garden we had a surprising Painted Bunting male that we spotted from our table and at the end we had the surprise of the day by spotting this amazing Northern Potoo.

As an amazing ending to the Borling Family Birding Adventure in El Salvador, on Days 5 to 7, we headed to the East of El Salvador. We visited the beautiful El Jocotal lagoon where we spotted the particular Double-striped Thick-knee and a Common Gallinule. We stayed in Puerto Barillas lodge where we visited the nesting colony of Boat-billed Herons and a group Collared Aracaris. Finally on the way to the aiport we spotted the last lifer a Pearl Kite, in this amazing week we spent together in the undiscovered birding jewell of Central America: El Salvador. Then it was time to say goodbye!

On Days 3 & 4 of Borling family Birding Adventure in El Salvador. We made our way to Suchitoto from Casa Colibri, on the way we stopped in the archaeological site of Joya de Ceren where we had the chance to meet out national bird the Turquoise-browed Motmot. Then we had an interesting visit in the historical center of San Salvador where we learned about the recent history of our country, Finally we made it to Suchitoto where we had the chance to go birding at Cerron Grande RAMSAR Site with captain Alberto, where we had an amazing morning spotting many amazing species such as Laughing Falcon, Striped-headed Sparrow, Crested Caracara, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks and a group of recently arrived American White Pelicans.

A new adventure awaits starting tomorrow. God and all this hard work has taken me through paths I never even dreamed of. I am so thankful for every single thing in this way and what it is to come in the future. 5 months of Preproduction has flew by and tomorrow the main work starts. Day 2 of Sandy, Dany and dany Jr. Birding Adventure in El Salvador. As a Day Trip from Casa Colibrí - Apaneca we went down 5500 feet to sea level to have a great adventure in the Mangrove Reserve of Barra de Santiago. We went through canals and intertidal mudflats where we saw a large variety of Shorebirds, gulls and Pelicans but the highlight of the day this pair of Kingfishers in the Zapatero Canal where we had a patient search of the American Pygmy Kingfisher that gave us the nice chance to spot it for a long time. Then it was time for us to go back to the clouds to Casa Colibri after an amazing birding day,

For the past 8 days I had the great pleasure to show El Salvador, its beautiful birds as well as history, gastronomy and culture to the Borling family. Sandy, Dany and Dany Jr. had a great week getting to know our beautiful birds. We started on Day 1 staying for three nights at the amazing Casa Colibrí - Apaneca where they had the chance to spot very comfortably 5 species of Hummingbirds including this amazing male Sparkling-tailed Hummingbird and this punctual Rivoli's Hummingbird taking a bath early in the morning. We also took a walk around the nearby extinct volcanic crater of "Laguna Verde" where we spotted this MacGillivray's Warbler and a handsome Squirrel Cuckoo. We finished the day by tasting some of the best coffees in the world at in the colorful town of Ataco.

Last week we had an exciting sunset birding trip at the RAMSAR site of Cerron Grande near the town of Suchitoto with an amazing group of . We spotted a Sungrebe that surprinsingly jumped into the water as we passed with the boat. This species is extremely rare in El Salvador being this sighting the 8th report for El Salvador and only the 5th location in the country. We spotted among many other species a Wood Stork perched on a tree and a lot of migratory Ospreys among many other species.

Last weekend we had a great birding morning with the Green Team at Los Volcanes National Park. We spotted really beautiful regional endemic species such as the Singing Quail and the Rufous Sabrewing as well as a handsome male Yellow-faced Grassquit and a Lesser Goldfinch as well many other species! Last Thursday we had a great morning with Dough, Sharon, Tom and Mike birding in the amazing garden of our lodge in the colorful town of Ataco. We saw amazing species such as this Spot-breasted Oriole and a Cinnamon HUmmingbird as well as the migratory Wilson´s Warbler and Black-throated Green Warbler among many other species.

Last Wednesday We had an amazing birding sunset trip at Suchitlan Lake with Tom, Mike, Dough and Sharon as well tour leader Manuel and our driver Venis. We spotted a large variety of birds including the unsual Purple Gallinule juvenile, a Juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron, a Crested Caracara and a couple of Northern Jacanas. Day 3 on Annette's Birding Adventure in Western El Salvador. From almost 6000 feet above sea level we went down to sea level in a little bit more than an hour to enjoy the beauty of the Mangrove Canals of Barra de Santiago. We had a great birding experience with a very close encounter with a female American Pygmy Kingfisher, we saw the Boat-billed Heron, as well a female Green Kingfisher and a Common Black Hawk. Then we went to the mudflats near the mouth of the canals where we spotted many other bird species such as Sandwich Terns, Yellow-crowned Night Heron and Mangrove Swallows, as well at least a hundred of Mar. bled Godwits and Black Skimmers among many other species. Then it was time to say goodbye to Annete thanking her for the opportunity to show her our beautiful birds. You are more than welcome back to come and continue meeting our birds.

Our destination on Day Number 1 and our lodge for the next two nights was the amazing Casa Colibrí - Apaneca where we spent a whole day having fun photographing hummingbirds. A total of 7 species spotted by Annette at the garden and 5 photographed species, The first one to arrive was this amazing Rivoli's Hummingbird at the bath, Then we have the amazing visit of the male and female of the Sparkling-tailed Hummingbird and also the female of the Canivet's Emerald and the last two visitors were the Rufous Sabrewing and the a young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. The two species that we could photograph were the Mexican Violetear singing in its lek very high in a tree and the Green-throated Mountain Gem who did a quick visit to the garden.

Our second stop was in the small town of Chalchuapa on our way to the mountains. There we first did a brief visit to the archaeological site of Tazumal where Annette learned about its amazing history. Later we went to the nearby lagoon of Cuscachapa where we had an amazing closing of the day spotting amazing species among them a male Painted Bunting which was a lifer for her. As well as male Northern Jacana taking care of 3 chicks and Least Grebe and a migratory Northern Waterthrush that just arrived from North America. Last weekend we had 3 amazing days of birding with Annette from California. We had our first stop on the slopes of San Salvador Volcano both in Bicentenario Park and El Espino Ecopark. We spotted so many amazing species such as the couple of hummingbirds: Cinnamon Hummingbird and Berylline Hummingbird. We spotted among many other species, White-throated Magpie Jays, Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, Chestnut-capped Warbler and the Northern Central America close-to endemic White-bellied Chachalaca.
