Happy Mother's Day in Thailand

Mother's Day in Thailand is celebrated on August 12th, the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. It is a national holiday in Thailand and is a popular time for families to come together to celebrate and show their appreciation for their mothers.

Traditional Thai Mother's Day celebrations include:

Giving garlands of jasmine flowers to mothers. Known in Thai as "dok mali", the sweet-smelling white jasmine flower is used in Buddhist rituals and is a symbol of purity and love.

Making merit at the local temple. This may involve donating food to the monks, lighting candles, or praying for the well-being of mothers.

Enjoying a family meal together. This is a time for families to come together and bond over good food and conversation.
Giving gifts to mothers. This could be anything from flowers and chocolates to jewelry and home appliances.

Mother's Day is a special day in Thailand to honor the mothers in our lives. It is a time to show our appreciation for all that they do for us and to let them know how much we love them.

Here are some additional facts about Mother's Day in Thailand:
