The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok in collaboration with the ASEAN Studies Center, Chulalongkorn University organized an Academic Seminar titled “Bangladesh towards ASEAN: A Room with A View” at the Chumbhot-Pantip Conference Room, Prajadhipok-Rambhaibarni Building Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
The seminar underscored the possibilities for further strengthening Bangladesh-ASEAN ties and discussed critical issues that need to be addressed for fostering such ties. Professor Shahab Enam Khan, Department of International Relations, Jahangirnagar University, delivered the keynote speech which was followed by discussion by Professor Sineenat Sermcheep, PhD., Director ASEAN Studies Center Chulalongkorn University and M Ashique Rahman, Senior Research Fellow, Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).

During the panel discussion part, moderated by Ambassador Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, four panelists, Prof. Dr. Somrudee (Meprasert) Jitpraphai, Department of Marine Science, Chulalongkorn University, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director, ASEAN University Network (AUN), Dr. Cherdsak Virapat, former Director General of CIRDAP and Dr. Ratchada Jayagupta, Director, Asian Research Center for Migration, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University discussed on Cooperation on Fisheries and Aquaculture, Digital Transformation, Disaster Management and Preparedness and Development and Gender respectively. The panel discussion was followed by an interactive question-answer session.

The seminar drew the appropriate level of attention and engagement and was attended by representatives from relevant Government department, ASEAN experts, think tank, academics, Embassies, International Organizations, media, and students.

On March 13, 2025, H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi joined the Ramadan Harmony: Iftar & Meet with H.E. the Ambassador event at Prince of Songkla University. Organized by the Bangladesh Student Association, PSU Hat Yai, with support from International Students Association at PSu and the Muslim Student Society PSU Hat Yai, the event brought together students, faculty, and community members in a spirit of unity and cultural exchange.

On March 13, 2025 afternoon, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand met with Mr. Jirawat Maneechot, Deputy Governor of Songkhla at Songkhla Provincial Hall.

They both discuss avenues for regional collaboration in trade, investment, and tourism between Bangladesh and Songkhla province. This meeting laid the groundwork for strengthening economic and cultural cooperation between Bangladesh and Southern Thailand.

On 13 March 2025 afternoon, Ambassador Faiyaz Murshid Kazi on his visit to Hat Yai and Songkhla met with Asst. Prince of Songkhla University, and senior faculty members. The meeting focused on strengthening academic ties and research collaborations between Bangladesh and PSU.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, had the honor of meeting H.E. Mr. Nipat Thonglek, Vice Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, on 7 March 2025 at Government House in Bangkok.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the longstanding ties between Bangladesh and Thailand. They discussed a range of issues, including discuss on strengthening defence cooperation between Bangladesh and Thailand and the human trafficking issues, and fostering greater collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok successfully hosted a vibrant celebration of International Mother Language Day 2025 on 22 February at Le Khwam Luck Cafe and Restaurant. The event, themed “Language Matters, Poetry Nurtures,” brought together diplomats from different Embassies in Bangkok and poets for an inspiring afternoon of poetry, music, and cultural exchange.

The program began with welcome remarks by H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, followed by a special address from Dr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of the Thai National Commission for UNESCO. A key highlight of the event was the thematic talk delivered by Ms. Tasneem Siraj Mahboob, Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, who shared valuable insights on the significance of language preservation and multilingualism in fostering cultural identity.

The event also featured a multilingual poetry recitation session, where distinguished representatives from various countries showcased the beauty of their mother tongues. Contributions included Bahasa Indonesia by H.E. Ambassador Rachmat Budiman (Indonesia), Nepali by H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli (Nepal), Khmer by Mr. Sab Samkhan (Cambodia), Thai by Associate Professor Supanee Patthong, Ph.D. (Thailand), Korean by Ms. Yunju Song (South Korea), Arabic by Mr. Mustafa Gamal Khalil Isak (Egypt),, Tagalog by Ms. Maria Paz S. Samelo (Philippines), and Bangla by Mr. Raquibul Amin (Bangladesh).

Adding to the cultural richness, Ms. Chautordashi Chakma from AIT performed a song in Chakma language, Sinhala by Ms. Shashika Samanmali Atalugamwala Wickramage and Ms Ransi Ranasingh (Sri Lanka), Mr. Nirjhar Adhikary from the Embassy of Bangladesh sang a Bangla patriotic song, and Chitralada Technology Institute presented a musical rendition. The event concluded with a reception, allowing participants to engage further in discussions on linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, guests, and the multicultural communities who made this event a true celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. Let us continue to honor and protect our mother languages, for they are the soul of our identity!

Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok and UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok jointly celebrates the Silver Jubilee of International Mother Language Day (IMLD) 2025

On 21 February 2025 afternoon, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok, jointly with UNESCO Bangkok,proudly hosted the Silver Jubilee celebration of International Mother Language Day (IMLD) in Bangkok held under the theme "Making Languages Count for Sustainable Development," the event brought together distinguished guests, scholars, and cultural performers for an evening that highlighted the significance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.

H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, in his speech emphasized the critical role of language in education, culture, and sustainable development. He reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to multilingual education, cultural preservation, and linguistic diversity, highlighting efforts in Thailand and beyond to promote mother tongue-based learning.

The event featured engaging discussions, including Panel 1: Language Inclusion as a Catalyst for Learning, where Associate Professor Tasneem Siraj Mahboob from the University of Dhaka represented Bangladesh. She shared valuable insights on the importance of mother tongue education in fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Bangladeshi musician Shishir Ahmed and Ahmed Saif delivered two soulful renditions. The evening continued with an enchanting performance by the students from Silapakorn University, who presented a Thai favorite, Loy Kra Thong, followed. Adding a visual spectacle, a traditional dance performance by a talented team from Mahidol University further enriched the evening’s celebration. All guests were entertained to Bangladeshi cuisine.
