Back at our fav restaurant ag*in. Had our usual stir fried cabbage with fish sauce, massaman curry and tomyum goong. This time we added the fried fish, crab curry and crabmeat omelette. Every dish here is delicious and delightful. Rarely miss eating here when we are in Bangkok.
When you want something light at MBK in Bangkok, this is the place to be. They have fishball and tomyum noodles with sides. It is a well-known brand. The noodles are well blanched and fishballs are freshly made. Usually pop by for a quick simple meal.
One restaurant we try not to miss in every trip to Bangkok is Supanniga Eating Room at Thonglor. Although we have tried their other outlets, we tend to return here for our meal. The beef massaman, tomyum soup and stir fried cabbage are must have dishes. The consistency in their dishes is laudable. A must try.
Visited this rustic cafe before the pandemic and it has grown in popularity since. Many tourists come here for a different experience for a cafe. Apart from food and drinks, you can take a boat ride around the surrounding area. About an hour from Bangkok city centre.
Got to try this shop selling beef noodles couple of months ago and it was superb! They serve both dry and soup versions and you can choose regular beef or wagyu beef. Their wantons are really huge and stuffed with loads of ingredients. It is different from Wattana Panich but delicious just the same. Located at Wisut Kasat Road, it is definitely worth visiting when in Bangkok.
Read about this place and wanted to try. Mainly southern Thai food and they have couple of outlets in Bangkok. The appetizer with dip was very good as was the sour curry with fish. The braised pork was tender and the liang leaves with egg was very good. Service was slow even though there were only 3 tables with customers.
Back here for their minced pork noodles. The minced pork is sweet and tender and they serve pork liver here as well. Don’t need to add extra condiments as they serve their noodles with the right amount of sauces and spices. They serve more local clientele than foreigners and it’s a cosy, homely shop. Pop over to Sukhumvit 49 if you are in Bangkok.
We have given up going to Factory Coffee due to the crazy crowd, and never ending queue. So glad we gave this place a try. It was nice and quiet with a few customers. The coffee was excellent and reasonably priced. The Yirgacheffe coffee was superb. The front of the cafe was iconic and resembled a tunnel. Definitely our new favourite coffee in Bangkok.
We last ate here more than a year ago. The food is still fantastic. My buddy previously asked for the food to be extra spicy but this time we just ordered as it is. The wet omelette with prawns was excellent as was the kaprao moo sab. The fried mama noodles with pork was also excellent. Truly one of the better restaurants in Bangkok. Worthy of another visit.
Back here ag*in as we loved the food and experience the previous time. The curry chicken with chantaburi durian was excellent as was the gaeng som. The fish and vegetables were disappointing as both dishes were overcooked. Although we felt it was one of the better restaurants in Bangkok, this experience made us feel their standards have dropped a little.
Ros’niyom has several outlets in Bangkok and it is definitely one of the better known brands serving food that’s above average. They have a wide menu and most are up to standard. We had the hoi tod, kaprao moo krob and krua g*i. So if you are hungry and not sure where to go or what to eat, pop by Ros’niyom, it’s much better than the other chain which Singaporeans love.
Found another great place for minced meat noodles. Rung Rueang was closed so we went over to Sukhumvit Soi 49, Bangkok, for this more local place. The minced pork noodles were just as good. More locals here than foreigners but I am not complaining! They have pork liver here. Great alternative if Rung Rueang is closed or too crowded.
Always loved this place. Exploring the wet market and surrounding area with eateries and cafes. Usually eat at the place selling yen tofu and dim sum but this place selling beef noodles and pork balls was superb! This is a wonderful place to explore in Bangkok.
Trying new dishes at Kope Hya Tai Kee’s outlet at Seri Market, The Nine, Bangkok. The olive fried rice and braised pork belly rice came beautifully plated even though they are considered comfort food. Also had our usual Kai kratha, a must-have here. The coffee here is strong and robust.
Still the best and cheapest street food in Bangkok. The fried chicken was superb as was the pig liver salad. The sun dried pork was tender. It was quite crowded, but no need to queue. Will definitely return for more.
Back at one of our favourite restaurants in Bangkok. Could not get a table the previous evening as it was fully booked. Love the food here. The massaman beef curry was flavorful and the beef was tender, the cabbage is still the best we have had, the red curry was excellent as was the crab curry and tomyum soup. A must-visit restaurant.
Camin Cuisine & Cafe at Central Praram 9, Bangkok, remains one of our favourite Thai restaurants but service is really lacking. The food is excellent and they serve dishes not easily found in other restaurants. To take it to the next level, their service should improve. For now, be patient and enjoy the food!
Decided to eat nearby after full day of meetings. Standard has been consistent for more than a decade when we first patronized this place. The tomyum seafood soup, deep fried catfish salad, oyster omelette and grilled prawns were all excellent as were the vegetable dishes we ordered. Kuang Seafood is still one of the best restaurants in Bangkok.
Went a bit late and there was no queue. The Thai kway chup was excellent. The soup was nice and peppery and the ingredients were really good. Nai Ek roll noodles is located at Yaowarat Road, Bangkok. And no, they do not have any branches in Singapore.
Headed straight to MBK for a meeting from airport. Then grabbed a bite at Lim Lao Ngow fishball noodle. Located at the ground floor of MBK, it serves excellent fishball and tomyum noodles. Had the dry version and the noodles were springy and well-blanched. Add the condiments like chilli flakes, fish oil and vinegar and you have a wonderful bowl of noodles. There are different types of noodles to choose from and they have several outlets in Bangkok.
Love this place. Chill out, people watch, good vibes, good food. Bun Meat & Cheese still produces good burgers and lobster roll from Lobster Lab seems to have changed a bit in terms of taste. The Commons at Thonglor in Bangkok is usually crowded, especially on weekends.
Rung Rueang Pork Noodle at Sukhumvit Soi 26, Bangkok, remains our go-to place for minced pork noodles. The minced pork is so good, tender and with umami flavours retained in the chunks of pork. The soup is so tasty with natural flavours as it doesn’t make you run for water after your meal.
Saw the post on Google and decided to try. No regrets! The restaurant was huge and well decorated. Service was excellent and the food even better. We had the lamb shank massaman curry, crispy omelette, lieng leaves with egg, sliced sirloin and tom kha soup. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Bangkok, in our humble opinion.
The location stated here is in Chiang Mai where this restaurant originated. The outlet we visited is at Convent Road, Silom, in Bangkok. The khao soi here is rich and the broth was thick and robust, yet the meat, both chicken and beef, were tender. They also had the dry version of khao soi, which we had for the first time. Needless to say, it was also delicious! Will be back for more. Service was excellent.
After enjoying our meal here during our last trip, we just had to come back. The food was excellent but service was a let down. They served a couple of dishes then gave our other dishes to another table and we had to inform them twice before we got served with the food we had ordered. Sort of left a sour taste as clearly the staff needed more training. Anyway, Camin Cuisine & Cafe at Central Praram 9, Bangkok, still serves excellent local cuisine.
Our favourite breakfast place in Bangkok. Kope Hya Tai Kee has 2 outlets. This is the one at Seri Market, The Nine. Never tire of the kai kratha. Simple yet delicious. The toast with kampong eggs is another classic. Their coffee is strong and full-bodied. Excellent place for a meal, especially breakfast.

It’s been almost a year since we last ate here. The dim sum is still good but the fried rice remains their best dish. Little Hong Kong is a nice cosy Chinese restaurant located in The Street Ratchada, Bangkok. The only disappointment was the char siew. Don’t waste your money ordering this dish. Their roast meats are just not up to standard.
Been wanting to try this restaurant after reading so much about it. Managed to go to the one at Central Praram 9 and I must say this is truly a gem. Had hard to find local dishes like look-hed and the golek chicken which was marinated with local herbs. The pork knuckle was melt-in-your-mouth and the tomyum soup had the perfect balance f flavours, and they also had our favourite lieng leaves with egg. One of the best in Bangkok.
Our favourite minced pork noodle in Bangkok. Located at Sukhumvit Soi 26, they are listed on Michelin Guide for the past few years. Their minced pork and soup are so flavourful and addictive. The soup is definitely made with fresh ingredients as you do not get thirsty after your meal.

Thebeardboy2018 was brought to media attention by The Roaming Cook. Since then Chef Oat has appeared on local television showcasing his kua kai or flat noodles with chicken or seafood. He has made the crispy version of the dish and his crispy pork belly is excellent. Chef Oat honed his skills in Europe, working in various restaurants and hotels before returning to Thailand. We have known about Taiki Rattanapong when he was featured on YouTube and we saw his passion about creating a unique burger. He has since moved on to bigger things and is getting better and more creative over the years. We have seen his craft and creations evolve from his days at Bun Meat & Cheese to his return to Homeburg. His food is unique and delicious and his burgers are excellent to say the least. He had us coming back for more, culminating in a private dining last month. Finally got seats and thanks to him for accommodating us! Patonggo Savoey in Yaowarat, Chinatown, Bangkok, is listed in the Michelin Guide. This humble stall has been selling patonggo, or yu tiao, or dough sticks for more than a decade. They start selling from afternoon till late at night. The dough sticks come with sankaya or pandan coconut jam. They also have other flavoured jam to accompany the patonggo. It can also be eaten dipped in hot black coffee or soups and curries. To me, it is good enough on its own! It is a must try if you visit Chinatown in Bangkok.
DAY 2 - Penultimate day. Made sure I had checked in online, submitted my arrival card online to the Immigration Authority, and planned my day. No harm making a checklist so you know everything is in order. Travel in the new normal. Headed to another part of Bangkok to meet Thebeardboy2018 after recommendations by The Roaming Cook, Gary Butler. Chef Oat was very humble and friendly. He cooked 3 dishes for us, the original krua kai, the special crispy version and crispy pork belly. Krua kai is a northern Thai dish with fried flat rice noodles with chicken, pork and seafood with egg. There are different variants in Thailand but it’s difficult to find in Singapore. Krua Porn Lamai first came to the attention of the media when Chef Gordon Ramsay visited and loved the sizzling volcano ratna. His video garnered thousands of views causing more people, especially tourists, to visit this humble stall on a side street in Yaowarat, Chinatown, Bangkok. Already well-known among locals, the sudden interest caused queues to form every evening. There are only a few tables available. The flat noodles with thick gravy and seafood became a hit. They have other dishes like glass noodles with seafood and oyster omelette, all served on hot plate. The last we visited, it wasn’t very crowded. Mocking Tales Cafe in Sukhumvit Soi 55, Bangkok, is a fairy tale-like cafe and decor that makes one feel like being in a Harry Potter world! There are also medieval furniture and fittings that take you back in time and makes this cafe Instagram-worthy! The food served are western and fusion cuisine while their desserts are also good. The star of their menu is this volcano chocolate covered in raspberry sauce with ice cream and cookies inside. This dessert is big enough to serve 2-3 people.
We have seen this mall grow in popularity over the years including a second building being erected as an adjoining mall to pushcarts lining outside the walkway of the shopping mall. Platinum Mall became one of Bangkok’s most popular shopping malls. Locals will flock here to buy in bulk at factory prices and reselling at their own stalls in markets and night markets. Students and young adults come here to buy fashionable clothes and accessories. Tourists would stay at nearby hotels so they can shop here. Sadly, many shops have closed and pushcarts outside no longer exists. Hoping for the borders to open soon.
True Love Neverland Husky Cafe in Lat Phrao was one of the first dog cafes in Bangkok. We have visited this cafe several times and were one of the first customers when it opened. The dogs are truly beautiful, intelligent and sociable. The favourite is not a husky but a shih tzu named Momo! Momo is an honorary husky. The owners are friendly and accommodating, making this place a must-visit if you love dogs.
Continuing our updates on how Bangkok is now, we are posting a video taken a month ago at Pratunam market. Another popular area for local and tourists to shop for clothes, knick knacks, fashion accessories and food. Pratunam is well-known for their day and night markets and is near Platinum mall. It is sad to see most places with less than a quarter of the crowd that used to throng these place pre-Covid. Hope the Government can stem the tide of infections and roll out more vaccines.
Those who have been to Bangkok will have shopped and had a meal at Platinum Mall. Bustling with locals and tourists, one shopping mall became two, due to its popularity. Locals and tourists go there to buy clothes and some go there to buy in bulk, getting factory prices, to re-sell. T-shirts, suits, shirts, blouses, underwear, sportswear, footwear, fashion accessories, and more all under one roof! There are also cafes and a food court as well as restaurants. The place was so full until stalls and pushcarts had to flow out onto the sidewalk outside the mall. Today, the mall is a shadow of what it used to be and many shops have shuttered. Hope tourists will be allowed back soon.
The Praya Palazzo Boutique Hotel is located along the legendary Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. It is secluded and not easily accessible by road. It is easier to take a ferry there. The hotel is self contained if you just wish to remain there throughout your stay or you can take the ferry and explore the area or shop at ICON Siam mall.
