「日本人とは全く違う！タイ人の”死”に関する考え方」生死が目の前にたくさんあるタイでは生死に対する慣れから、良い意味でも悪い意味でも死に対しては鈍感です。それが悪い方向に転じると後先を考えないということになり、カッとすれば暴力を振るう、バスやタクシーの運転手は自分と乗客の命の重さを考えることは中々ありません。そもそもなぜこのような考えになるのでしょうか？それはタイ人の9割以上が信仰している仏教の考えに基づきます。仏教では日々の行動で徳を積むことで来世がより良いものになるという教えに従うもので、言い換えると来世のために生きているので今世における”死”はあまり重要ではなく、一般的に”死”は究極の終わりではないのです。肉体は器でしかなく大切なものはそれに宿る魂。”死”はむしろ輪廻転生できる出発点と考えているのかもしれません。従って葬式は派手で飲めや歌えやのどんちゃん騒ぎ、遺骸そのものへの愛はなく、一般的には墓地も作らずに散骨がほとんどなのです。文化が違えば考え方も違う。思わぬところにも違いが出るのは興味深いですよね。このアカウントでも今後もこういった興味深い違い等を紹介していくのでぜひフォローを！
