Discover the gems of Vietnam's central coast all by bike, from where the Annamite Mountains meet the South China Sea! On 𝘾𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙣𝙖𝙢'𝙨 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩, we'll saddle up to ride along tranquil routes, lush rice fields, pristine beaches, and challenging mountain passes. We'll also glimpse into the history of the ancient Hindu Cham civilization, the former Nguyen dynasty, and remnants of the unforgotten war years – here are some of the highlights from this 10-day coastal biking journey.

🏰 Exploring historic Hue, a city where we'll visit the grandiose tomb of a famous emperor, cross the beautiful Perfume River, and also see the Forbidden City of the Nguyen dynasty.

🪦 Arriving at the “Ghost City,” a complex of huge, remarkably ornate mausoleums built and dedicated to the ancestors of many Vietnamese families.

🚵‍♀️ Climbing 480 meters ASL to conquer the iconic Hai Van Pass for its superb views over Da Nang Bay. Trust us, it’s well worth the ride!

📷 Discovering mysterious My Son, the ancient capital of the Cham civilization, a Hindu people who ruled this region until some 500 years ago.

🚲 Crossing the impressive Cua Dai Bridge, which stands high above the Thu Bon River and is known for its panoramic views of the open ocean and Cham islands.

🚤 Swapping bikes for boats to head to Whale Island, a 900-hectare island of near-untouched nature, colorful flowers, exotic birds, shimmering schools of fish, and (of course!) whales and whale sharks.

Sri Lanka is a small island with a big story to tell! Earlier this month, a group of SpiceRoads riders uncovered that story from the saddle on our classic 𝙎𝙧𝙞 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙖 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 tour, capturing some great photographs along the way.

Starting from the palm-fringed western coast of Negombo, we cycled inland to Sri Lanka’s cultural heart, exploring the iconic Lion Rock and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. After a rest day in Kandy, we rode deep into the country’s tea-growing highlands before descending to the jungles of Udawalawe National Park, where wild elephants greeted us. Finally, we reached the southern coast, famed for its white-sand beaches, surf, and the colonial-era Dutch fort in Galle.

With fewer vehicle transfers, more character-rich accommodations, and some of Colombia's best mountain/gravel biking routes, this is an adventure you won’t want to miss. Expect 12 days of riding from one Andean town to the next, exulting in views from lofty peaks, exploring vast pastures, lush forests, and highland deserts.

And (of course!) also experience Colombia’s indigenous and colonial heritage on our way through its diverse landscapes. Here are the highlights!

🐑 A stop in Cucunubá municipality, famous for producing Colombian wool which is woven by local artisans into traditional Andean ponchos.

🏺 Discovering Colombia's “Pottery Capital" in Ráquira, a city known for its craftsmen who create colourful, hand-painted ceramics.

🌵 Crossing "The Desert of Souls" aka the Candelaria Desert, a high-altitude but tranquil moorland.

🍬 Sampling the beloved Colombian guava jelly snack, Bocadillo veleño, at Moniquirá City, also nicknamed the "Sweet Capital of Boyacá."

☕️ Venturing through the vast coffee fields and seemingly endless sugarcane plantations of the beautiful Santander region.

🪨 Tackling the climbs and descents of the Suárez Canyon – the highlight is a thrilling 5 km ride down to reach the valley floor.

⛪️ Seeing historic Barichara town, one of 17 "Pueblos Patrimonio” – towns celebrated for their culture, traditions, and architecture.
