The cheapest dentist he could find on the Gold Coast, quoted Rob $7,433.50 for the work he needed done (ask for details) and the highly qualified dentist here in Chiang Mai quoted $3,350 for exactly the same work.
A little over $4,000 cheaper.
Today (10/9/2018) there are return flights advertised to Bangkok for $337. Another $100 will get you to and from there to Chiang Mai. Nice accommodation for 11 days (the time needed for the work) will cost him $500. Food at $10.00 per day comes in at $110. Full concierge service with pick-ups, on-call service, culture and currency introduction will all cost $1,000. A fantastic holiday and a brilliant smile and saving a cool $3,000.

It does not need to be all rush and and sightseeing every day in Chiang Mai. There are times when you can find a nice cafe situated inside one of the 1,000's of beautiful temples that are all different and always interesting and that also serves a lovely locally grown coffee. THIS IS ALMOST LIKE AN OLD SEPIA PHOTO WITH THE PING RIVER BROWN WITH THE WASH FROM THE MOUNTAIN FORESTS. BUT THE LOCALLY GROWN COFFEE AND THE MONKS CHANTING FROM THE TEMPLE COMPLEX ADD AN AIR OF THE EXOTIC TO MY MORNING ESSENTIAL.

AUSTRALIA TRIP: It was nice to return to Queensland for a few weeks and enjoy the beautiful cool winter days - a far cry from the hot and humid days in Chiang Mai at the moment.
While I was here I met a few older acquaintances and the conversation tuned to dental problems that they had been suffering from. Today there were flights return from Australia to Bangkok for as low as $339 (Perth) up to $533 from the Brisbane. Add on another $100 for return flights to Chiang Mai and your biggest expense for your dental work and holiday is covered.
