Chiang Mai is home to some of the finest elephant sanctuaries in the world. These gentle giants can't return to the wild. However, they live happy lives under the care of humans. 🐘

We only support elephant sanctuaries that are ethical and see to the essential needs of these beautiful creatures. We condone elephants being used for rides and being chained up so that tourists can feed them.

The Story behind Jungle Trekking - Chiang Mai

The two faces behind Jungle Trekking – Chiang Mai, Matt and Not, founded the company in 2011. Our purpose was two-fold: to share with nature lovers the spirit of discovery we felt every time we headed out into the jungle, and to extend the benefits of tourism over the remote places in Thailand.

Although we love the classic routes, like the Muang Kurt to Huay Kukap trail and the Chiang Dao trek, we just knew that the Chiang Mai region has so much more to offer – and we wanted to share this with like-minded travellers around the world. We were also painfully aware of the exploitation that was rampant in the tourism industry, and knew we could do things differently. We exceed industry standards in every way, from pay rates to labour standards and sustainability practices. We also made a commitment to give back to the communities we trek through by donating 10% of all profits to wildlife preservation.

We advocate for slow tourism – taking the time to absorb, enjoy and savour the experience of exploring new places. No matter how much time you have, we believe there is no reason you can’t leave the crowds behind and connect with the real jungle.
