Today is Loy Krathon day. It's one of the most popular festival of Thailand celebrated annually on the full-moon day of the Twelveth Lunar Months it take place at a time when the weather is fine as the rainy season is over and there is a high water level all over the country. It's time to thank the Water Goddess for a year's worth of her abundant supply as well as an apology for polluting the waters.
Loy means "float away", Krathong is a Thai term which refers to a piece of banana trunk decorated with flowers, banana leaves, candle and incense sticks. Many Thais believe that the krathongs carry away sin and bad luck, and the wishes that have been made for many good things to come. :)
