Maya Bay is a famous bay located on the island of Phi Phi Leh, part of Thailand's Phi Phi Islands. It's renowned for its crystal-clear waters, stunning limestone cliffs, and pristine white sandy beach, which became globally famous after being featured in the 2000 film *The Beach*, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Maya Bay is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and is accessible only by boat, which adds to its allure and isolation.

In recent years, Maya Bay had been closed to tourists (from 2018 to 2022) to allow its ecosystem to recover from the heavy impact of mass tourism. The coral reefs and marine life had been significantly damaged due to overcrowding. It was reopened in January 2022 with new regulations in place, such as limiting visitor numbers, restricting boats to specific areas, and enforcing rules to protect the environment.

The bay is part of the Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and continues to be a popular spot for sightseeing, snorkeling, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
