R.I.P. KING OF THAILAND (5 December 1927 ~ 13 October 2016)

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Thai people at such a sad time for the country.

Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, died on Thursday, the palace said, prompting what is certain to be deep mourning in a country which viewed the world’s longest serving monarch as a figure of unity.

The health of the 88-year-old, who came to the throne 70 years ago, had been ailing for years but he had been seriously ill for about a week.

"His Majesty has passed away at Siriraj Hospital peacefully," the palace said, adding he died at 15:52 (9:52 BST).

DID YOU KNOW: Monkey Beach, also known as Ao Ling, is popular stop on Phi Phi Islands, Thailand tours. As its name implies, local macaques that inhabit the area enjoy accepting bananas from tourists and amusing visitors with their antics. Nestled in a cove north-west of Loh Dalam Bay, on Koh Phi Phi Don, the macaques on Monkey Beach are very playful and see quite tame as they have no fear of humans. However, keep your belongings close because the monkeys have been known to sn**ch whatever they can get their little hands on. Monkey Beach is a worthwhile stop during your visit to the beautiful Phi Phi Islands!

It's Prime time for visiting Phuket - did you know that December to March is the best spell to visit? While the mercury hovers between 31˚C and 34˚C in some parts of Thailand at this time, sea breezes knock the heat down a couple of degrees in places on the coast like Phuket, making for toasty beach holiday weather.

Patong Beach earlier today. Looks so much better without the sunbeds cluttering up the place! Seemed a fair bit quieter too - never been a huge fan of this beach before, but perhaps it's turned a corner?

Well it is only once every 4 years I guess....You can come to Thailand and look at a big rock, or i'd personally favour the beaches of Phuket!

If you read this and are thinking "Oh, coup, must be dangerous" think again. There is nothing at all to be worried about .. except the possibility of bad low season weather."
