The best of both worlds.
Ed Tuttle the superstar architect and designer behind the exclusive Aman resorts has turned his hand to yachts to produce a uniquely 90-foot Thai motor yacht.
Maha Bhetra, which is now available for day and overnight charter for the discerning clientele.
The traditional Thai-crafted wooden hull holds 3 palatial double cabins below a spacious open plan teak-laden salon on the top deck. Its sturdy construction will take its guests far and wide in the Andaman.
The interior is mostly a neutral palate with accents provided by authentic Southeast Asian antiques from the 18th Century. Seamlessly, the ancient and modern interact in the saloon where bespoke designed louvered cabinet hides sound systems and glassware and the staterooms are adorned with tiger-patterned rugs.
It is hard to image that this yacht is modern and offers the modern conveniences whilst it presents so serenely Thai. It has been best described as an open villa flooded with light and air on water – the best of Thai architecture and in one of the greatest marine environments.
Maha Bhetra is available for private day charters for up to 12 passengers and extended overnight excursions for up to 6 passengers.
Visit the Surin islands, on the Burmese border; the Similan islands, just northwest of Phuket; and the Bunting archipelago, next to the Malay Peninsula, as the boat drifts along at 8 knots. While there are few ports of call as such, the sea is dotted with dozens of islands, most of them national parks with spectacular white-sand beaches and fantastic marine life.
