The weather has eased significantly so we headed for the poda island for snorkelling. The marine department of Krabbi province, 30Nm from Phuket, issued a warning and grounded all the local tour boats. This beaytiful location is normally packed at this time of year with day trippers, but the guests on the good ship Willow get to experience this pristine paradise all alone. It's a rare day and it will surely be a lifetime memory!

Interesting stormy day today on the good ship Willow. I've done about 30,000 miles on this young lady and she has hadled them well.

Sometimes the weather is not perfect blue sunny skies, but it is always warm and welcoming, with many interesting things to do, on the tropical island of Phuket.

It's a very nice night for Loy Krathong, a major festival in Thailand where everyone throughout the nation, gives thanks for the wet season and asks good luck for the next season. It coincides with the full moon of November. This moon is particularly important as it is the biggest moon for 70 years and marks the 30 day passing of King Rama the 9th, Phumipon Adulyadeh, the longest reining monarch in history, of co- incidently, 70 years. The people of Thailand loved King Phumipon and most if they can prefer to wear black as a sign of respect in mourning. Loy means to float on water and a Krathong is the decorated little boat that is sent off into the night with best wishes for the future and some goodbyes to the past, often with nail clippings, hair cuttings and perhaps some coins. Essentially the krathong must float, look beautiful, be hand msde from natural materials and have a candle and incense sticks. Happy Loy Krathong my friends. Best of luck for the coming season!
