🐭 The mouse deer, or chevrotain, is an incredibly fascinating species and one which science doesn’t yet fully understand. Despite its name, the mouse deer is not a member of either rodent or deer families. In fact, the only link that the mouse deer has to similar-looking animals is that it is an ungulate (hoofed animal), along with mammals such as camels, giraffes, and Khao Sok’s own wild boars and gaur.

🌺 Rafflesia are the largest flowers in the world and can grow up to 90cm in diameter, weighing 7 kg! Rafflesias are red with white and yellow spots. There are three species of Rafflesia that grow in Khao Sok. The flower looks like a giant red bowl lined with yellow spotted petals. ❤️💛

🕊 There are nine types of swifts in Khao Sok National Park. Swifts have a compact body, narrow neck and relatively long wings. They are usually black and dark to pale brown in color and look somewhat similar to swallows although these species are not related at all. 🤎💙

It is dark brown in color and the head appears quite large, with long feathers on the back, hence the name crested.
